Is this something that happens to everyone and if so is it because the dvds are too size constrainedl. requiring devs to compress and make to small files and always try to put files on the outer edge making discs easier to hiccup.
From the very beginning, game studios know that a dual-layer DVD is how much free space that they initially have to work with. Additional maps, for example, are sometimes developed separately from the game itself, and are usually released as downloadable content.

Game discs are also optimized before being pressed, so that the files contained on a disc are laid out in the most logical fashion for what kind of file access it will receive, and to comply with Xbox 360 disc standards.

So, your problems are most likely caused by your console itself (probably its DVD drive).

Strange though that it has been this way since I bought it, thought it was this way for everyone.
It's possible that your console may have been damaged during shipping, or it may have even left the factory in its current state.

When I purchased my first PSone a few years ago, it would read game discs most of the time, but on occasion, skipping and freezing would occur. After allowing the retailer to exchange it for a different one, the new console didn't exhibit these symptoms. That's proof that products can be hurt in shipping, or poorly produced from the factory. smile.gif
