I hope Konami would have the idea to put more features into the 360 version of the game if it comes out over a year later... but that's just me  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

That would really put the PS3 fanboys up-in-arms (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) .

It would be nice I guess for those fond of the series.  Am I the only one who doesn't see anything special about the game except to increase fan base?

I love FPS/3PS too, however I never saw this game as special. I played the game in the PS1 days completed it, completed the 2nd when it came to Xbox 1. However I had no great love for the game.

It's just I hear so much like it's the best thing since sliced bread? (Not implying sliced bread is the best thing in the world by statement  tongue.gif )

I agree 100% with this as I've never understood why the MGS series is so popular. Yes, MGS is a series of good games but not at all that fantastic or introducing unique gameplay in any way. Its the same as with the Halo hype, halo 1-3 is fun and well-made games, but nothing spectacular and doesn't differ much from all the other 23455453 shooters out there.

To me MGS doesn't offer anything special that I can't get from other, similar type of games. Yes I do want to try the newest MGS on my 360 but I'm not counting the days to release and I would not really care that much if it stayed as a playstation exclusive.

Have to agree on that one ...
I really wonder how MGS and Halo can charm so many people ...
I agree that they're really well made and all, but they're not special in any way. And they tend to feel really repetetive, especially Halo ... (and this comes from an Xbox 360 owner tongue.gif)

As much press as MGS4 is getting I really don't see it as a Halo level game.

MGS is popular and all but it's no where near the level of popularity that Halo is...

Halo sells massive amounts of consoles. MGS hasn't sold many consoles in the past but rather made a good game to fill out your existing collection. I don't see how MGS4 will be different.

Killzone is the same way. the Media is and has been in a frenzy over Killzone 2 but the first game was a total flop that few people purchased and even fewer actually enjoyed.

IMO all the MGS4 cheer-leading is nothing more than corporate PR driven fanboy fodder.

the entire mgs series combined sales isnt as high as halo 2 sales. Trust me, MGS is not even on the same level of halo.

MGS is just a really flashy game with very little substance, thats why its so popular.

You're right, MGS isn't on the same level as halo, it's beyond halo. Anyone who has played computer games knows halo is a straight copy of any other numerous deathmatch games with less features.

With that said

Metal Gear solid - 6.6 million
Metal gear solid 2 - 7 million
Metal gear solid 3 - 4 million

Halo 2 - 8 million

So you're about 9.6 million copies away from having a point, thats not including all of the other spinoffs and portable versions of Metal gear.

With that out of the way, There's no way it will come to the xbox 360 unless they bring back disk swapping, and to me it sounds like it'd be too much of a security risk for Microsoft, not to mention it would cost too much to produce. It's been confirmed several times that they're going to fill a blu-ray disk to the limit, so unless all of the textures get downgraded to PS2 levels it would still never fit on a DVD. Nevermind 4 DVD's.

your right...i actually meant series not halo 2 only. My bad.

and what makes u think its the textures that are taking all that space? Because if they are using uncompressed sound, for a game of that magnitude the sound alone can take like 16 gigs of space. Not to mention that since all ps3 games are region free (last time i heard...), what about multi-language tracks?

also, didnt Blu Dragon have disk swapping? Why wouldnt they allow u to disk swap then?

by the way, nobody caught the "substance" pun in my post?

Remember that you cant really use totally uncompressed stuff for most uses. Compressed textures load faster off the dvd drive yet we STILL get streaming issues in games with large levels (think Mass Effect for instance). Also they take up far less memory.

Textures get compressed in PC games, even though they run off harddrives.

The whole "filling up a blu ray" story we have been hearing about most PS3 games comes from the fact that they :

-probably use uncompressed audio, which is nice, but faaaaaaaaar from a deal breaker, mp3/ogg audio sounds pretty damn good to me

-include audio tracks for most languages (helps since the company only has to master and reproduce 1 disk, and doesnt have to bother with different disks for differente territories, but still its irrelevant to the end user)

-include high def, low compression, prerendered FMVs. which again is mostly irrelevant (especially in MGS, where all FMVs are done using the game engine in real time)

The limiting factor in todays games isnt the DVD disc size. Developers dont have large enough budgets and development times to even FILL the DVD.
