I've noticed that some games give separate achievement points for completing the levels or the whole game on the different difficulty levels. On most games, if you play through the expert difficulty first, does that give you achievement points for easy and medium difficulty levels as well, or do I actually have to play through each difficulty level to get all the points?

on most games it will give you the easier difficulty achievements as well, but the odd one doesnt...

yeah it really depends on the game...

Halo 3 I played through on Legendary my first time through and got all of the lower difficulty achievements.

Gun, however, will not give you the lower difficulty achievements if you play on Hard or Insane.

Prey, like some other games, wont even let you play the higher difficulties until you beat them on an easier level. In pray I had to beat the game on normal before I was allowed to play Hard and then I had to beat it on hard to get that achievement.

Is there a specific game you had in mind? if you check out achieve360points.com I'm sure you'll find some info on how a particular game's difficulty achievements work.

It's all based on how the developer decided to program it.

Here is a good website that has specific detailes of how to get achievements for all your games. Its a very handy website if you are stuck and not sure how you can get certain achievements with ease.
