While I agree with the sentiment, kinda stupid everyones jumping on the blame christians bandwagon as I'm pretty sure the 6th commandent is thou shalt not kill not thou shalt not have sex...

...just sayin

I'm not trying to blatantly call out Christians here, as I AM a Christian (just one that happens to look more into the gnostic than others)... the point I'm making is that we our seperation of church and state is a joke and that too many EXTREME ideals permeate the functioning of our society.

I understand where you are coming from, I didn't mean to come off (and hopefully I didn't) as sounding mean or like an ass.

I do whole-heartedly agree with your original statement, from a religious and also non religious perspective, I just didn't like seeing "Christians" sounding like people who condone violence but think sex is evil if you know what I mean.

throwingks - you do bring up an interesting point but Christian values (not accounting for everyone’s particular beliefs) don't equate to "play killing is ok, but play sex is not".  I'm not saying play killing is equal to real killing, just that God isn't a list of, 'this is right, this is wrong'.  I can be pretty sure He wouldn’t be thrilled with someone playing a really gratuitous, violent game anymore then one with a couple nipples.

I am speaking strictly on the 10 Commandments. I, admittedly, do not know enough of "Christian values" to have a proper conversation with you on that subject.

There is no way to know for sure. But, strictly using the 10 Commandments as a compass, "thinking of killing" is not mentioned.

That is my take on why the game and movie ratings work the way they do here. Personally, I believe there should be harsher ratings for violent video games and movies in the States. But, the "moral" people who make those decisions, don't agree with me.

Thank you for joining to give your opinion and takes. It is appreciated. Many religious defenders view themselves as warriors. For you to present your opinions as respectfully as you have, is nice to see.

Thanks everyone for the support, even though we weren't exactly discussing heavy religion, I appreciate a lot listening and respecing THAT I had something to say as much as I appreciate how you cared about what I had to say.

I agree that violence in video games/other media should be weighed harsher.  I think the entire ESRB is incredibly flawed.  Pair that with so many stores and companies not allowing AO games its a huge mess.  I don't care who you are games like Manhant are not for anyone under 18.

Anyway... back to religion for a sec, if you guys are ever interested theres a great book call "Blue Like Jazz" I recommend everyone reading.  Its honestly the best book I've ever read.
Thanks for the time guys,
Andrew
