I knew recognized some of the songs as well (from back in my choral days, we did some oldies)... but anyways, I don't think the music is used out of context - it just helps to add to the psychology of the game... Rapture was a living, breathing world full of normal people that drove themselves insane... the music, the mutterings, the items they have, and the masks they wear serve as reminders of their last few shreds of humanity... (or at least thats how I see it).

But yeah, some great music in the game

I recognized La Mer as well...

I didn't think it was meant to be eerie but I think it was supposed to screw with you in that the song is all happy and cheery and meanwhile you see a big daddy driving a drill through someone's torso.

kind of like when you see the evil little girl in horror movies or in mars attacks when the aliens are running around saying "we come in peace, we mean no harm" while they blast everyone in sight.

From the time frame I take it something big happened during a masquerade ball (or something) this is why we see the masks on them... maybe the music has been looping ever since.. lol

Mars Attacks did someone besides me catch that on this weekend..
