I wasn't going to post, but I had to when I saw RE4 as the #2 game.  Maybe it was the fact that I didn't expect much (it had been a while since I actually liked playing a game on my GC at that point), but I was totally floored by that game.  #2 fits it perfectly.

i wasnt gonna post either, but screw it. first off, FFVII should be at #2, RE4 was no FFVII, and i dont think any game has ever beat it, but i havent played OoT in a long time so i cant say which is better. Halo 2 shouldnt be on there,it wasnt that great, definately not better than halo 1. halo 2 was good for multiplayer, but thats bout it. GoW should be on there, but not very high, its fun and whatnot, but its no halo,or FFVII,or goldeney007 for that matter, so it should be on there, but like i said, not very high. i didnt take a look at the whole list, but it does look like they like nintendo. if starcraft wasnt on there then they suck arse, that was one of the greatest games i've ever played. SSB or SSBM should be on there, both were pretty fun. pokemon red or equivilent should also be on there. this list sucks if theyre not on there.

Just wondering why Super Smash Brothers or Wii Sports didn't make the list.  In terms of popularity, both are huge and the games themselves are unique.

I'm not a fan of either games, but they're deserving to be on the list more than most of these.

On what is this list based? Numbers sold? Most screaming fanboys? Popularity among the people who created the list?

The fun thing about Half-Life 2 was that it worked pretty good on the Xbox. The graphics are a lot better compared to Halo 2 and it still runs pretty smooth (except when a lot of physics stuff is going on). However, I would seriously replace Half-Life 2 with Half-Life.

A bit off-topic, but I can hardly wait until Black Mesa is released. smile.gif

How could they leave out Halo 2? ...Halo 2 is one of the top selling games of all time, and it didn't make the top 100= this list is bullshit.

Because this is a "Top 100 Games of all Time" list, and not the "10 most disappointing sequels of all Time" list. laugh.gif

11. Yoshi's Island.... my favorite game ever!  smile.gif

AMAZING GAME! I played it non stop in the days of SNES.
Well whilst I disagree with the top 10 completely, at least Halo 2 and FFVII aren't in there. wink.gif

As it should, Half-Life 2 was simply amazing in graphics and gameplay and had some nice features relatively knew at that time like the interactive environments.

Halo is just an FPS whose only claim to fame was that it kept the original Xbox from a Dreamcast death. I don't buy that Halo is "revolutionary" by any standard. I don't hate it, the campaigns and storyline are enjoyable, I just don't think its anything beyond typical and ordinary. Halo 2 was a kick in the nuts.  mad.gif

No thought what so ever was put into this list. They just picked games at random that they liked.

If anything, games on the list should meet certain requirements.

Genre Defining (Final Fantasy, Fallout, Diablo, Warcraft, StarCraft, WoW, Doom, Half-Life 2, etc etc)
Company Defining (Mario, Sonic, Donkey Kong, Halo, StarCraft, Elder Scrolls, etc etc)
System Defining (Final Fantasy, Halo, WoW, Soul Caliber, Gears of War etc etc)

Skip sequels unless they really offer something (such as HL2's physics).

Yeah, and Chronicles of Riddick beats Half-Life if you ask me.

Just my opinion.  biggrin.gif

Chronicles of Riddick is one of my favorite Xbox 1 games... it was just friggin awesome...

I'm planning on picking up the Darkness soon simply because it's made by the same people.

I can't wait until they release the next Riddick game on the 360 (it's in development now if you didn't know biggrin.gif )

Elite imo should be in ANY games top ten.... (for me its number 1)...but 63????, fact is  there are too many "fashionable" games in there and not enough looking into what was around at the time the game came out.

ie.... Halo, really what did halo offer to the fps genre that multiple games didnt do before.

when a sequal is simply an evolution on its prequal then imo its the original game which should be held highest (populous)

but these lists are always going to be biased so thats just human nature i guess.

ooops i ws looking at an old top 100. Elite isnt even in it anymore sad.gif

True, Halo didn't add anything revolutionary to the fps genre, but that was its strength, it didn't inovate really, but just did everyting near perfectly, as an example large, well designed levels (mp), balenced vehicles, ballenced weapons and damage, perfect controles (defined the genre), numerous game modes, solid (albet simple) physics, excelent implementation of explosives (ie, not cheap), excelent modding potential, ect, ect.
