I would argue that Halo is currently gaming's biggest franchise.
No way Halo is the biggest gaming franchise. For starters, it only has 3 games in it (one which isn't even out yet).
Secondly, it's only on two platforms (Xbox and PC,), three when Halo 3 comes out.
And most importantly, it's not as populous as Final Fantasy. Go to Japan, start talking about Halo, and count how many gamers
don't look at you funny. I also highly doubt that the number of Halo Players is as high as the number of Final Fantasy players when you consider the facts that Final Fantasy has been around longer and been on more platforms (SNES, PS1, PS2, GCN, GB,GBA, DS,PC, and I'm sure there's one on PSP).
Same goes for Pokemon.
Personally, I'd love to see FF on Xbox 360 so I'd have one less console to buy. Judging by the responses in this thread, it's clear why the original Xbox had a lack of game variety (most good xbox games were shooters, sports, and racing type games - games where you mostly repeat the same actions over and over again).
