don't order in a store... order online

90% of the time the store screws up my pre-order.

This is particularly true if you're pre-ordering because you wont be around on release day... the half-wit register jocky wont thing twice about selling your pre-order to the next schmuck who walks in willing to buy it. Pre-ordering through a Brick and Mortar is a total sham.

The online stores have never messed up my pre-order, it's all run by computer so it very rarely gets messed up, there's little opportunity there for human stupidity to get in the way.

Why even bother pre-ordering anyway The game is sure to be available friggin everywhere.

I've NEVER... EVER walked into a store looking for a game on or around it's launch and not been able to walk out with a copy

Go to some place OTHER THAN Gamestop or EB games... those stores only really care about hocking used games because that's where the largest profits are, they rarely order more then a handful extra new games beyond their pre-orders. Walmart will always have stocks, as will target, Best Buy, etc etc

The only exception is limited editions. But as long as you show up early on release day or pre-order online you'll get one.

i personally tend to preorder my games at gamestop (online), it ships out and in 95% of situations comes with a free goodie (chromehounds poster/doa calendar/extra prey figurines/face plates/etc.) . i'm yet to have an issue preordering this way.

yeah... Gamestop/EB online (it's the same friggin store) has delivered 12 out of 12 things I've preordered without any problems.

The EB/Gamestop retail locations have screwed up 5 of the 6 things I've preordered from them... I only pre-order online now.
