Microsoft Customer Support...wow
« on: April 20, 2007, 05:08:00 PM »

Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know MS is ofically stupid. I found a bug in halo 2 which allows you to download the new $4 halo 2 maps for free, but I won't tell how though. I emailed microsoft telling them about it, and I got some generic response. I emailed them again clearly stating that I found a way to download the new halo 2 maps which should cost $4, for free. Its pretty bad when the customer tries to help out the company by showing them a money costing error, and then is completely ignored. I wish someone would actually see this from MS, because I tried to show them, and they didn't do crap.  I also emailed bungie, and certain affinity(the creater of the new maps), and I didn't get anything back from them. Lol, anyone else find this funny?

this is the response I got from MS

Had a similar experience where when they put me on hold I could hear a lady ordering an Ipod and giving out her credit card number.  It was very odd and when I told them about it they didn't take me seriously either.  This happened more than one time but I couldn't figure out what was going on the other times I heard things.

I tried to get them to tell my if it was my wireless connection on my PC causing my connectivity issues for media streaming, explained exactly how I had my 360 connected over a wireless ethernet bridge, but that that wasn't the issue as it worked fine when my PC was hardwired, but not when it was wireless.  The stupid bitch kept trying to tell me that it was the bridge because it's not an officially supported solution.

Eventually she put me on to her manager to told me to calm down and stop yelling even though I was doing nothing of the sort and he hung up on me.

I hate call centres.

i hate calling tech support cuz you always get the foreign people who barely understand english let alone speak it so i get mad and they get mad because im mad and it usualy ends with one of us hanging up, but when i get to talk to someone who sounds american the first thing i do is thank them just because i know i am going to get alot further with them than i have with the 15 foreigners i talked to previously. no offense to foreigners

using persons foreign to the area where the support is being given is a really really bad idea.

Most hardware/software problems stem from a breakdown in communication between the user and the technology. In most cases the tech is functioning as it was designed but the way it functions wasn't communicated well enough to the user for them to understand.

So rather then provide support with people who can bridge the user/tech language barrier you're replacing the user/tech language barrier with a local language/foreign language barrier...

It's like fixing a broken leg by giving you a black eye.

heh... I called in support recently to check up on my 360 repair status and long story short the guy who I was talking to almost replaced my repaired console order's serial number with another one of my 360's serial number which wouldve been one hell of an issue later on. Alot of hassle just to check up on a repair status... tisk tisk... also the past 8 calls were foreign people originating from India I believe.

Also the supervisors always seem lazy and are slurring and moaning throughout the conversation while youre trying to tell them the situation. Anybody else get that also?(my experience with 4 supervisors altogether)

"..could you spell that please?" tongue.gif

I understand that businesses only place their call centres in india because its cheaper.. but theyve really got to arm them more knowledge!!
Ive had to ring up various times beause of a problematic xbox (is there not one?), or for some other reason.. and itll normally go along the lines of:

- May i have your first name
- ..and last name
- address
- meh postcode too
- password
- eh?
- oh, dont worry.. so what is your problem sir?
- i need my NAT changed from strict to open, so i can play with my friend online who lives just next door!!
- ok.. may i put you on hold please sir?
- YES
- 5 minutes later..
- Are you still there sir?
- Yes..
- OK i an going to put you hold sir, is that ok?
- wtf..
- 5 minutes later..
- Are you still there sir?
- YES
- Im afraid i cant help you with your problem sir.
- ...

If you're still having that problem
  1. Go into the system tab of your Xbox and Set your Xbox 360 to a static IP (if you need the Subnetmask/Gateway/DNS go to the command prompt on your computer and type "ipconfig /all" everything will be the same on your 360 except the IP) The IP will be the same as the gateway save the digits after the last dot... make something up that's not already in use.
  2. Go into your router and setup port forwarding to the Static IP you've set on your Xbox forward both TCP and UDP for ports 88 and 3074.
  3. enjoy lag free gaming and an open NAT.

i have been talking to microsoft support for the past few days trying to get my no halo 2 map problem solved, everytime i call i get the same indian people, but my favorite part is that there names are always lucy, bob, dave, dan, or something completely american. i called and they hung up on me 3 straight times, when they were supposed to be putting me on hold. then the 4th time i call back i ask for a supervisor and tell "LUCY" why. then she asks for a reference number, i say "hello, were you not listening, i keep getting hung up on, I DONT HAVE A DAMN REFERENCE NUMBER" she says like in an old indian lady voice, "ooooooooooo i understand im very sorry, but can i get a reference number" like she had no clue what i was saying. so i just kept saying supervisor over and over again until she transfered me. luckily he was an american and helped out alot! actually gave me real answers instead of ooooooo im sorry.
