I think the more important issue is the firm $60 pricing, regardless of the game.  Sure, GOW would have sold the same amount at $75.  However, that's a MUST HAVE game for the 360.  Games that are much less in demand have the same $60 price tag.  This is where a little variability would be nice.  Maybe only a hardcore poker fan would drop $60 for World Series Of Poker, while a lower price would have drawn in the casual fans too.  Also, using Madden is a bad example.  Many feel that sports games have gotten to the point where the latest version is nothing more than last year's version with updated rosters.  So, a lot of people pass on getting the latest and greatest sports title until it drops in price.

I've never bought a 360 game for $60 and never will.  All my games that were/are $60 were bought used.  It's too damn much money for one game.

i tottally agree! ... 60 dollars for a video game is just to much ... they where already pushing it quite a bit @ 50 dollars per game... the MOST i would want to pay for a video game is 40 dollars... although obviously the cheaper the better... i think something like 30-40 dollars is much more reasonable... especially for games that suck or are just "average" those aint worth 30tops! ... to me the "average" game (in other words games i dont even really care about) i would not even pay 20 for em... cause for me to buy a game it's gotta be pretty good which there is a small number of games out there thats actually worth buying... me for the most part the only games i buy is where u generally have to have a cdkey to play online, in which case your forced to buy it or u just cant play... example: Counter-Strike Source... but single player wise, i generally just "p****e" wink.gif

p.s. ... and they wonder why people pirate video games when there like 60 dollars.... although im sure they would come back with the point about how if people can get it free they will just pirate it no matter what the costs and im sure there right... but atleast they have a chance for more people to buy games when there at reasonable prices (40 dollars or less)

also on a side note... the only reason i want a xbox360 right now is basically for Forza Motorsport 2 ... other than that i dont really care much for the system since it cant run XBMC yet wink.gif ... also i would like the system for "Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3" which is on xbox live... but i aint to worried about that since i already have it on MAME arcade rom with the x-arcade joystick which is basically as close as your gonna get to the arcade machine without actually owning it... since it's the real arcade roms.

like others have said, i think $60 is an okay price for games that are WORTH it.  the problem is that there are so many games that are NOT worth that price tag.

this is the reason why i havent purchased any 360 games recently.  not that many games that are worth it at this point in time.

1. The first rule of the Xbox-Scene forums is you do not talk about piracy.

2. The second rule of the Xbox-Scene forums is you DO NOT TALK ABOUT PIRACY.

3. You're an idiot...
you think *****ing out the word pirate is going to some how stop the moderators here from figuring out what you're talking about? Admittance of piracy aside, your lack of respect for the intelligence of the staff is disgraceful. If you want to play that game then fine... Go sit in a corner until you've learned your lesson.

$97 for a game??? I would have quit long ago or become a renter, but not in million years would I be willing to shell out that kind of green, here, there or anywhere! No offense but I think you're nuts for paying that much, and don't tell me you don't have a choice. P.S. BTW, why is it so much more for a game over there?

ANARCHY in the UK people. How you tolerate those inflated prices boggles the mind. How can anyone support that type of system? I make a descent living here in the states, have $40k/year job, a wife, a son, a house, and realistically could not afford the prices you deal with day in and day out in the UK and probably most of Europe? I'm assuming that this goes beyond just games, but most other goods as well? Are your wages that much better that you can live comfortably within those confines? WOW! You must really truly be hardcore gamers over there to take that kick in the ass every day.

The dollar sucking at the moment enhances how much the game prices suck. I refuse to pay that much for the games. I dont think it is the government that effects the prices. VAT is 17.5% and our interest rates are reasonably low. I think its just game companies taking the mick

Also for an Xbox360 Premium system it would cost us $543.20 from amazon.co.uk. When i see you Americans going on about your prices being too high, it makes me want to cry haha. Im in Vegas next week, might try and buy everything i can before coming home biggrin.gif

Hey it's all relative. To many of us here the prices are too high, so don't you Americans this and that, like we're a bunch of whiners. We're hard working, putting more hours in a week, than many European countries do in two, and we accept that with wink and smile.

I have no problem dropping $60 on a game that deserves it.  The amount of time I've spent playing games like GoW and Oblivion, $60 almost seems like a steal.  Other games that I breeze through in 8 hours and never play again really leave me feeling burned about the price. If the games aren't selling, the developers should think about producing more appealing titles instead of worrying about the price point.

Meh... I buy the games I know I'll play a lot... the Oblivions and GoWs

I rent the games I know I'll breeze through.

and if I end up buying a game that I breeze through... I re-sell it.

^Pretty much same here, but I got to thinking, when I wanted Defender for Atari, it was 50$  ohmy.gif

I may be wrong, but I swear my uncle paid that.

For the casual guy im sure 60$ is expensive, of course you probably play it and put it down after about an hour, then come back days later or the next week.

Then there are people here that play single player in the morning and multi at night.  These are the people that think 60$ is a great price.

60$ for the Oblivions and R6's, 5$ for the Over G's.  smile.gif

*actually my brother said that he thinks it was 39.99 so I dont know.  Anybody know how much atari games were?  Im 33 and that was a long time ago....

Heet,
You're on the money there with the cost of atari games.  I remember when my father picked up the atari 2600 and my grandmother was with us; she bought my first game, Canyon Bomber.  Anyone ever play that?  What a turd!!!  It was $50 (late 70's or 1980 dollars) and all you did was press the red button on the paddle; that was it.  No movement, planes were on a fixed path/speed and you had to clear out the canyon (kinda an inverted breakout) by pressing the red button to drop your bomb that continued its path all the way to the bottom then you could fire again.  All we had to go on then was box art to pick out a game then, at least now we can read reviews/customer comments/play demos before purchasing.  Also, I remember paying $69.99 (american) for Mortal Kombat II for the SNES when it came out (believe it was 1993 or 1994).  I hate to say it, but prices are reasonable compared to times of yesteryear (though I currently wait for titles to go on sale before buying games for the 360).

BTW  $50 in 1980 had the purchasing power of $118.54 in 2005
$69.99 in 1993 had the purchasing power of $94.60 in 2005

Yup thats what I thought.

60$ is fair for a good game and it looks like games are cheaper than ever.

Truth is if you disagree with that just wait 2-3 months after the game you want comes out, it will be almost half that price if not less.

Then there is ebay...........
