Tecmo's Dead or Alive series is about to get some serious competition for the king of fighters' throne on Xbox 360 in the form of Virtua Fighter 5, previously a PS3 only title.

Hopefully, the fact that VF is spreading out on multiple platforms will give the DOA series a much needed kick up the arse. But Sega's legendary beat 'em up franchise has taken a few knocks of its own over the last few years. Maybe it's just that the genre as a whole has gone as far as it can?

i have loved VF since i first played VF1 soo many years ago.  another sony exclusive bites the dust.  im not holding my breath but i hope they include online play.

I've never been that big of a VF fan but this is good news because it will definitely drive innovation in the DOA series which I love... who knows maybe I'll actually like VF5.

Now if we can SoulCalibur xplat again...

I don't believe so but I highly doubt they wont be making one..

Sony paid Namco quite a pretty penny to make SCIII exclusive to the PS2... Basically I'm hoping the appeal of a broader market wins out over exclusivity deals in the next round.

FINALLY VF5 on the 360!

I officially have no reason to buy a ps3 anymore. And I dont have to buy a new GFx card so I can play VF2 (saturn emu) on my PC full speed anymore!

Maybe online VF could be a possibility, now that its coming to the 360!

This seems too good be true!

I kinda get the feeling that alot of sony exclusives are gonna be timed exclusives this gen. Well all we need is DMC and everythings cool........they can keep MGS and FF. Heavenly sword would be nice too!

On a related note....on the gamespot forums there seem to be alot of crying from the fanboys:
