They have already sold 10,000 preorders of the Blue Dragon Bundle. Im going to put my money on 15,000 - The ten thousand pre-orders plus the weekly 5,000.

Biohazard 5 (known to the rest of the world as Resident Evil 5) is also coming to the 360, which I think counts for something.

well, if Biohazard5 is RE5, then 3/10 isn't so bad for the toughest market for the 360.  plus their most recent spike in sales, I bet microsoft is excited/happy about the current state over there.

So between the 360 and the PS3, Blue Dragon is a 360 exclusive.  That's followed by Resident Evil 5 which will definitely be for both platforms with a likely simultaneous release, MGS4 which might get ported to the 360 (judging by current rumours), and rounded up with Lost Odyssey (another 360 exclusive).  And only a Final Fantasy title was further up on the list than Blue Dragon.  Not bad indeed.

RPGs are lame I stopped playing those when I was 16 years old.  Who cares what they want?  I think 99% of the sceners are with me on this one.

Resident Evil 5 will be bad ass.

And yet when those games come and go the 360 will be a dead stick again.

Impossible market to penetrate, too much brand loyalty there.

Without the big Japanese Titles (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, MGS), they have no chance at all in Japan.
If you would put 100 bricks in a japanese store labelled with "Playstation B" against 100 Xbox 360 for the same price, the bricks will probably sell much better than the Xboxes.

Just my two cents,

The 10'000 BD bundles were the Limited edition ones, they supposedly sold another 90'000 BD bundles (pre-orders) on top of those.

I've imported a JP 360 just for BD (It better not be region free :|)

Can't wait, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey is the reason i own a 360, keep those RPG's coming Japan (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Saying it's pointless for MS to bother with Japan is stupid, i guess you could be eatting your words if BD sells through the roof.

As the second largest video game market in the world MS needs to get a foothold in Japan if they want to be king.

Third, actually, after North America and Europe.  And as far as the games created go, Japan is less important overall than they were in the days of the Sega Genesis.

Japan is one of the most important markets, not because of sales but because of developers.

Japan has some of the best game development houses in the world. If you don't interest the Japanese game buyers then the Japanese game developers aren't interested in you either.

Gaining support in Japan isn't about sales, it's about winning over the Japanese game developers that can make or break a system worldwide.
