So you removed the original gamesaves and then call out at MS.
There is no way of distinguishing people who will use gamesaves to boost their achievements (cheating) and those who simply have lost the save they earned. MS are correct to stop the masses at the expense of the few honest ones.
It may seem tough but allowing achievment cheating makes the system pointless.

I think the whole achievement system is very poorly thought out. I pay no heed to the achievments any way. The only thing that I would complete certain levels in games for is to unlock other stuff within the game. The actual achievements and being able to tell the world about them mean nothing.
I agree there should be a system in place to allow recovery of unlocked items and levels in games whilst not altering achievement and points.. Some of the early console games used to give you a code at the end of each level so you could always get back to where you were, even if the save got deleted.

IMO a good solution for MS would be to allow you to copy or transfer a save game from one profile to another but in doing so add a flag to the save game meaning that if you use it you cannot earn achievements with it.

it does stink that a legitimate use of save games has to be blocked because of achievement cheaters.

cheaters always seem to ruin the fun of video gaming...

OK....my fault for deleting them. But my point is WHY can I not use them in an offline-only profile or have them disabled for online use. There's got to be a reasonable way for this.

Yes, achievement cheating is stupid and should be stopped. But that's not what I'm after.......ater completing the couple of games I have I just play them for a little bit every once in a while and starting from scratch is NOT much fun :-(

If you play offline and earn acheivements then next time you are online it will update your achievements.  Achievement cheating is dumb and the people who do it are pretty lame.  Achievement scores mean absolutely nothing, but I like achievements, it makes the games last longer for me, I try things that I usually wouldn't have tried before.

Fair enough. But how hard can it be? Just disable the saves for any live enabled profiles. And let offline users use them if they like.
