I hated the control and graphics in all the past mcrae games.  It always seemed they were a few years behind the competition.  Rallisport 2 was the king but I don't have much hope in seeing another one anytine soon.  I'm hoping Sega Rally will be a nice alternative.

I think you guys are getting a little confused.

CMR is a sim
everything else mentioned here is a fun racing game.

I'm not confused. Mcrae games look like ass compared to others, sim or not. They could'nt make a good looking racer on the original xbox if they went for the "fun" type. The next Sega Rally isnt an exclusive so one of the versions will suffer. Rally racers were my #1 fav genre for years, now its all shat and I'm depressed sad.gif

Hey Def, I did some investigation and it seems your right. Got me depressed too sad.gif

Yea Colin Mcrae is a sim and a superb one at that but it will never replace the fun of Rallisport.

It's my understanding that MS owns the rights to the RSC franchise, even though Dice wasn't a 1st/2nd party. The reason being is that MS fronted the cash to pay all the official car royalties. It's a similar situation with Project Gotham Racing, you'll never see it hit a different console because while Bizarre isn't owned by MS, MS owns the franchise because they paid for it.

If anything I think RSC3 wont come out simply because the first two games in the franchise sold so poorly.

So AFAIK EA doesn't own it, MS does, so if it is developed it will be by a different developer.

Twisteds talking about the Rallisports, and I still want proof from a developer/publisher being quoted or somehting, Im wierd like that  tongue.gif

And they sold poorly? I dont know if that term applies to the series. I know it had a cult following but a large one at that. I was under the assumption the sequel sold exponentially better than the 1st(which sold quite a bit itself back in the day) uhh.gif

You asked for it: http://repi.blogspot...hallenge-3.html

Blog of a DICE employee who worked on both Rallisport games... in the same posts he cites the owner of the IP and the fact that the game didn't sell up to expectations.

Ok so MS owns IP, but not being a commercial hit doesnt mean it sold poorly  tongue.gif  A commercial hit could mean 1.2 million, so selling only 900,000 could be deemed "not a hit" but thats still a LOT of copies and now they have legions of pissed off fans that want another Rallisport!!!  grr.gif

I want my Rallisport fuggin 3!!!

No shit.  Me too.  I want a game that looks like Ralisport 4 and plays like Forza 2.

Is that too much to ask?

I figured I should mention this.

I'm on a private industry forum. Some very candid conversations in that forum often hit subjects such as these screenshots.

some comments were made by a CodeMasters employee essentially saying "they are not real, they're max renders".

he was fired the next day.

make of it what you will.

wow the game industry is brutal.  i dont see anything wrong with revealing what is real and what is not, i dont fully understand every NDA but its stupid to be fired for such statements IMHO.

he hasn't been told WHY he was fired.. and under UK law that gives him immediate unfair dismissal rights... it won't end anytime soon.

Technically no, but even if he gets a pretty nice settlement in court, the employee in question will have a hell of a time finding another job....

Also, M_Hael you have given me another reason to keep my grades up in UNI.... If I get a job in the games industry I can participate in a private game forum biggrin.gif
