Demos Are Timed?! (table Tennis Doesn't Work Anymore)
« on: October 10, 2006, 08:15:00 PM »

I just fired up my Rockstar Games Table Tennis demo,
and a screen comes up just before gameplay and says
"All good things come to an end" and when you hit the "A" button, the
demo exits.

How gay is that?
Shouldnt a demo be a demo?
They still want to sell the game don't they?  I guess they don't.

Any other demos that are 'timed out'?

MS has full control and they wont let you forget it lol.  I guess they are afraid you may just keep playing the demo instead of buying the real thing.

How do you know this is a MS decision?
Other older demos still work, so why do you blame MS for expiring the demo?
I would guess this is a Rockstar decision if anything.
It's so annoying to hear that M$ is to blame for everything negative.
AAArrrrrggggggggg  grr.gif

[extra rant:off topic]
It amazes me how many people use M$ product and don't appreciate it.

It actually makes perfect sense.  If you can go back time and again and get your fill just from playing the demo, then what motivation is there to purchase the game?  Now that you can't get your table tennis fix, you might actually go and purchase the game.

I wonder if it's timed from when you download it to a determined date... what if said gamer just got his 360 and went to download some demos to try them... and was intrested in table tennis... if he can't play it think he'll buy it??? I just wonder if it is time if it is somehow related to the time you have had it on your harddrive?

I have no interest in the full game, and brought up the demo to show someone else
the graphincs/gameplay.
So I have no motivation to buy the game.
Rockstar would possibly have benefited if I could still run the demo IF my buddy liked what
he saw.
But since he didn't get to see anything, there is no chance of being motivated to buy a copy
of the game.

In the end... Rockstar loses.  (In my particular case)

Possibly.
If it is still available on XBL... I wonder if it would work if I'd deleted it
and then re-download it?  eh... I don't care that much to try.

Why doesn't he download the demo?  Cause he can't. Hes not on XBL

I bring it up because this is the first time I've ever seen this happen.
A Mountain?  Not really.  Just a topic of discussion.
I know there are limits to things - I've just never seen anything that says the life
of an XBox 360 demo will be limited.

KAGE, do you have the Table Tennis demo?  Does that one still work for you?

Can't change the time on the 360.
Don't believe me?  Try it.

Well ya I know Rockstar made it but its going up on live so i figured MS makes the rules.  No?

I dont know, as much as we are finding out about hidden goodies and such that they will release for you to pay for later....made sense to me.

Sue me.

*MS has full control of everything put up on live do they not?

I removed the demo, since it is unusable and a waste of HDD space.
I browsed thru XBL list of demos and its not there anymore.
My guess is that the demo is done for (and for anyone who has it)
Oh well.
Case closed, due to me losing interest.   sleeping.gif
