I don't know if you guys heard the news but I came accross the article last week.
I thought I should at least post about it here since there are a few Street Fighter fans in here.

According to EGM's rumor guru (The Q), Street Fighter 4 is FINALLY headed our way.
He even goes on to say that the game might come out as soon as next year.
Normally I don't care for rumors but this guy has a very good track record (Ninja Gaiden for the PS3 for example). He got the info from a very reliable source within Capcom so I personally think this is the real deal....

So there you have it, The Q doesn't say much but you can find this in the Rumor Mill section of the latest issue of EGM.

If this is true, it'll be sweet.  Although, I must say I wasn't all too impressed with SF3.  I mean, the parries were awesome, and the graphics were decent enough, but I thought that it lacked a certain fluidity that the SFA series and the Vs. series had.

I'm just looking forward to what ever Capcom has up it's sleeve.

Personally I thought the parry system was a good attempt at taking the series into a new direction,
I'm just not sure the attempt was all that successful.
But I'm not complaining either.

The biggest problem I had with SF3 was the missing SF2 characters.
The SF3 fighters just lacked the spirit of SF2's cast.
Plus as good as the animation was, I didn't really like the art direction.
I mean SF3's art direction made Capcom's decision of going to an anime look for the Alpha games,
pure genious.

But enough about looks, I just hope the game plays well.

What ever the case is, Capcom can't make no worse than SF2.
I can't wait to see what SF4 has to offer pop.gif

i agree with the missing characters; sf has always had the best chars in fighting games and having like 3 come back was a bit of a disappointment...

i didnt like sf3 when it first came out but now its fucking awesome... just wish i knew more people who played it...

I will say this only once Street Fighter 4 will not be 3D...and if it is another baby angel will die.

Now on to the important stuff. The rumor has been around since the San Deigo Comic Con. This past year was the 15th anniversary of Street Fighter (note the AC collection / controllers for PS2 and Xbox) and the Comic Book Series by Udon has been flying off the shelves.

There was an autograph section at the convention where a Capcom Rep sat with the artists (see baddass) of Udon to sign their incredible work. A QA session brought out the question of Street Fighter 4...the capcom rep said they had something special and the Udon guys said that they would not dissapoint their fans.

Fast Forward to the annual Jamma arcade show a few months later...a game by Capcom in the fighting genre was listed but never showed...

So here we are today more then a year from these events and all we have is a rumor...so is SF4 going to gracce us with its heavenly presence? Hopefully...

Will Udon be involved...if the gods are smiling...

Will it be 2D...if it is not (see above)...Any fan knows for it to be a real sequel to Street Fighter it has to be.

What I want:
100% all new 2D High Rez Sprites
30 plus characters from Alpha 3 to Third Strike + at least 6 100% new characters (though I would allow Poison and be ok with that)
An advancement of the Third Strike Engine...
An Intro movie and endings by Udon...
Story by Udon...
Old Characters that must return:
Ken, Ryu, Sagat, Guile, Chun Li, Bison
Old Characters i want to see:
Dudley, Makoto, Blanka, Zangeif, Dhalsim, Vega, Alex, Cammy, Fei Long...and many others

For the consoles:
A dramatic battle mode
A survival mode
A time attack mode
A training mode (combos/strategies not just your freeform practice)
An expanded story mode
A color edit option like CvS2
Bonus Stages

Anyhow it is too early to get me started wink.gif

Shinamano freelance video game consultant!

BTW that may be the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me wink.gif

One thing that I have always wanted, but was not sure how to do was have a boss battle (after the main boss) in which the players fought Ken and Ryu (either Dramatic or round by round) as old masters...

What I was thinking...after some in depth ending story you could have '1 last test' and fastforward in time where Ken and Ryu have grown old and wise...the battle would be frustratingly difficult and the ultimate test of skill (though not cheap)...

I have never found a way to have this a part of the actual game as you would loose all the classic characters is you had Ken/Ryu as masters in the game...so it would have to be outside of it...and no matter what never have these versions as playable characters...we all saw what happened when they make Akuma playable...

OMG, I hope this is true. I would be SO excited. I've loved this series since I was about twelve (I used to beat the boys playing at summer enrichment camp. It was so awesome.)

^^^^
The Q says that we will definately see something next year.
I just hope that it doesn't take Capcom forever to port it over to the home consoles.
