Portal is a single-player experimental puzzle game created by the team behind the free narbacular drop game which was created before prey came out. After the small team created the game Valve spotted their talent and hired them on the spot to create a game that expanded upon the portal ideas shown in narbacular drop. It is at the moment considered part of the HL universe but will be unlike a conventional FPS because of its heavy puzzle elements.
