f you're Cliffy B's older brother, you're more than likely to be able to have some easy access to the man.  In an exclusive interview with his big brother on Gearheadsofwar.com (witty, eh?) Cliffy drops the bomb that while Emergence Day is on November 12th, gamers will most likely be able to purchase Gears Of War game earlier at retailers GameStop and EB.

"Cliff:  The Sunday date is the date MS believes all of the major retailers will have the game in stock so that's the date they want to build excitement around. What we've been told is that hardcore game shops like EB & Gamestop will have their trucks lined up at MS's warehouse as 12:01AM on November 7th (the date the game actually ships) and will get stock to their stores as quickly as they can - at their own additional expense no less! They'll be able to sell it the minute they get it so some of those stores will have the game well before the 12th."

Also, it's not looking likely that we'll see a demo before the game ships.  More info about the current status of development can be read at the Gearheadsofwar.com site.

i got a phone call last night from the gamestop hotline? it was some wierd #. anyway it was a robot saying the game i pre ordered is going to be available soon. the only gave i have pre ordered is gears of war.....

mark rein confirmed this on the gears forum on the day of the announcement, whilst emergence day is the 12th, that is the day all shops should have it: various outlets (who can pick up copies direct, rather than waiting for usual distribution chains) will have it on the 7th.
