Sorry I didn't read all the posts so some of what I'm about to state may not be new. I was just a little underwelmed. THe graphics looked amazing till you get close to an object, so that was a plus. I'm old school and am really not comfortable with the F bomb getting dropped in games these days. It just seems liek a cop out to avoid saying something clever. I'm also just not buying into these shooters that have such jerky unrealistic movement: like Unreal Tournement. I like Halo because it lets me use my natural controls (Legacy Inverted), the action is fast but the characters have weight to them. I know Chief jumps high, but he runs in a manner different than rabbit. Now a game that I have qued on my Gamefly may be getting removed.

I do give it props for having the juke box play Heart and BOC as well as it starting in my former home of Oklahoma.

you want a rebel badass cheif going "oh golly this is gross?" "These monters are really icky" "Were not in kansas anymore toto" "Die slimeball"

I mean really do you really want to hear that instead.

It runs pretty good on the 360, better then my buds P4 3.0, x800xt 256meg rig.

And try playing the 360 on the same damn computer monitor before you go saying the textures are not as good and such.  Because if you are comparing the PC version on a PC monitor to the 360's on an HDTV, then no shit the textures will look better on a pc monitor.

Gotta love people who love to hate.

I would have to agree looks damn good on my lcd pc monitor , But slightly lower on my hdtv wich displays at 1080i wich still looks great especially for viewable area 32in compared to 17in. Still blows away graphics of other 360 games. The framerate issues seem to be non exsistent on my 360, might be the fact I just had my launch system replaced due to the the red ring of death, otherwise your setup is probably flawed. So dont listen to all these bitches saying it sucks andits like quake 4 becuz it aint at all. Multiplay wasnt working yesterday I would give it a day or so, they have been having server problems hence the demo delay and such.

yea, when you turn your head real fast in some areas, it can get choppy.  Detracts quite a bit from the experience.  Then there's the fact that the game is nothing I haven't played before.  I can walk upside down, wow...

agree,

I just downloaded it last night. To just try out the multiplayer. Basically every game lagged and just wasnt as fun as the pc version. I think I will just be buying the pc one instead. I can do alot better with mouse / keyboard anyway.

i dont have a problem with the textures & i didnt have a problem with the framerate in Quake 4 but after the devs said this game was going to have a smooth framerate i was expecting it to have one! imo its worse than Q4 in tearms of framerate

im not saying that because its 30 instead of 60 because that doesnt bother me, its the way it takes a dive from time to time thats pissing me off

i can play if at max setting on my PC

AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-57 Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX Extreme Edition 256MB
SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium

but i wanted it for the 360 to play from the sofa

You have virtually an identical rig to me. The only difference is that I have 2 7800gtx in SLi. biggrin.gif

I played the Demo last night and I thought it had the makings for a pretty decent story.  Loved how the aliens were killing people with those machines and hearing the screams in the background.  portals were definetly wierd and first I've seen portals like these, where you can run around a box and see nothing, but when you look into or run into the box, your in a whole new area.  Running around upside down, and seeing other people running around defying gravity was an interesting concept.  Personally, I can't wait to rent this game, I'd love to see where this story leads.

As far as people having framerate issues on larger tv's, I don't see it.  I have a 61" DLP and mine operated smoothly, no jerkiness and no jumping around.  You guys might want to see if your tv's arn't up to par, all of those "Bargin" HDTV's arn't always what they're cracked up to be.  I thought I heard somewhere that LCD's are succeptible to framerate problems, I could be wrong though.

Personally I think people need to stop picking apart every little bad part of a game.  I'd rather see the graphics get a little weak in trade off for a game with quality play control and most importantly, a good story to follow.  There just arn't enough games anymore that follow a decent story line.

Hey just out of interest.

What is that song playing as you get beemed up at the beginning? I recognise it from somewhere.

I liked the demo, and the only thing I found that reminded me of doom 3 were the graphics (which is no shock considering it uses that games engine). This game has been in development for somewhere around 9-11 years, so gameplay wise I don't think they really drew inspiration from doom 3.

I enjoyed the puzzles, doom 3 didn't really have any puzzles. A couple of them took me a few moments to figure out (when you have to be standing on the gravity strip and then spirit walk to the switch to move your body across the room).

The enemies are kind of stupid, but there also isn't really a big variation in the demo, according to some previews there are a lot more enemies, so maybe they will be a bit smarter, but I don't have my hopes up.

Overall though the game accomplished what any good game shoud, it was entertaining. I didn't notice any framerate issues and the graphics looked the same as my top end PC (However I do play my 360 on a PC monitor).
