yeah i hate the way Halo and other games that only support 50Hz in PAL cant be played using the vga cable, have to start switching to the bloody Component cable n pulling wires out n sticking wires in n messing about putting the little optical wire in the other cord... BAH! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ...actually it takes about 10 15 seconds but vga is still better, and doesnt suffer from overscan

[edit] Mikomraz, no, and playing xb games on the 360 NEED the HDD cause xbox games use like a 700MB cache on the HDD to operate... without the HDD theres no cache, therefor they cant be played

many original xbox games take advantage of the hd to speed up load times, so it is essential

wtf is up with "we are going to support all xbox games" to an xbox scene news posting saying "no longer supporting BC" to "we are working towards our goal of all games"

it would be nice to get some facts straight MS

Here are the straight facts:

1. MS never stated they were not working on backwards compatibility. If you are talking about Peter Moore being quoted out of context, then here is the whole quote:

"Nobody is concerned anymore about backwards compatibility. We under promised and over delivered on that. It's a very complicated thing... very complex work. I'm just stunned that we have hundreds of games that are backwards compatible," he said.
That doesn't mean we won't get more backwards-compatible games - indeed, "more are coming" - but "at some point, you just go, there's enough, let's move on, or people aren't as worried about a game being backwards compatible - and I like to think we've upheld our end of the bargain in making at least two or maybe three hundred games backwards compat."

2. MS never stated that they would support all games. From the launch of the console MS has always stated that getting all xbox games working was a goal, not a promise. Some titles just aren't worth the effort to emulate.

From computerandvideogames.com:

Proving once again that it's committed to the feature, Microsoft has got a fresh 360 backwards compatibility update primed for release this week, according to games boss Peter Moore.

Speaking in a Podcast with Microsoft's infamous internet spokesman Major Nelson, Moore - as well as revealing that he's an avid CVG reader - says that "20 titles or more" of the original Xbox games will be made 360-friendly in the next BC update, including Doom 3 and Lego star wars. According to Moore the update is undergoing final testing at Microsoft, and should be out sometime this week.
"We're going to continue to get as close as we can to our stated target of every Xbox game being backwards compatible with the Xbox 360," states Moore in the Major Nelson Podcast.
