360 Game Prices Dropping
« on: May 25, 2006, 01:53:00 PM »

QUOTE
Xbox 360 gamers have a reason to be joyous now knowing that many of the Xbox 360 titles have received major price cuts at many video game retailers. Among the games to have received a slash in price we see Burnout Revenge, The Outfit, King Kong, and a slew of EA sports titles, all to cool $39.99 USD. This is good news for many who complained about the steep $59.99 price tag that accompanied all the above titles and should encourage you to check them out if you’ve been holding off. Make the jump for the list of now-known affordable games.

this is great news to anyone that is still undecided on any of the titles.

I was a bit surprised by the Burnout Revenge cut, but not the others. I guess it's not selling that well as almost everybody has played it on another platform.

So much for higher developement costs as the reason for their original $60 price tags rolleyes.gif
It goes to show that games can still be very profitable even under the regular $50 suggested retail price....

maybe they sold enough at the $60 price tag to break even or take a hit in profits and sell it for cheaper.  with a lot of the games that are just cleaned up last gen ports with an extra coat of paint, i can see it being easier for them to lower the price.  but for total next gen games using the newest engines, technologies, and resources i imagine it would be harder to lower the price.

Hmm? Basic economics. As demand decreases you must lower the price to increase sales and stay profitable.

And some retailers have already dumped said games out of their inventory with clearance sales, and taken a hit selling at a loss.

If anything this official price cut from the manufacturer is almost too late, but still welcome.

Basicaly who cares, let's be honest all those games except Burnout are poor xbox360 examples and can be had on ebay for under $30. And even Burnout is just a port from last gen with little added

Yep.  About time really.  IMO the only games on the mkt worth $60 are Oblivion and maybe GRAW.  $60 a title is still a little hard for me to swallow.
