I don't think it's photoshopped.  The reflections from the flash, the multiple angles, etc., I think it's a real screen.
BUT what could make it fake is somebody just making that as an image for a screensaver on their modded Xbox, and throwing it up on the set and taking the pic.
I REALLY want bungie to respond somehow.  Call it a fake, or call it an early menu.  Say nothing and most of us will assume it is legit.

If it is the real deal, no way it is close to final, because the menu font sucks ass.  It doesn't seem to fit with Halo IMHO.

If this isn't fake then maybe Bungie is doing what I always thought they needed to do...

CLASSIC MODE:  Pull a CS: Source and use the new engine to rebuild a previous version of a game.   In essence, recreate Halo 1 w/ better graphics and Xbox Live using the Halo3 engine.   Then you get the Skilled Halo 1 players and Noobier Halo 2 players all looking forward to the same game.

I think it's fake...

Looks like a photoshop version of Halo 2's beta menu. Remember those pics?

fake imo, i just think that well if i were going to fake it like this, you would fake the menu screen, whereas if you were developing h3, i doubt the menu would be created this early. Even if its real, thats not gonna be the final one, never are.

I don't think the Y for friends makes it fake.  I think Bungie will and should have that option again.  Getting to friends through the guide button is too many steps really and when playing I'm not going to want to cycle through my friends that are not even playing Halo3 to find someone to join.  I don't think Bungie or anyone else would go through the effort of removing these pics if they were fake.

For starters, it's all apart of Bungie/M$'s master scheme of viral marketing. Thats how they work. And another thing.. why are people falling for it? Halo 2 was absolutely horrible, what goes to show Halo 3 will be any good? Viral marketing will not work for me for Halo 3. I don't plan on purchasing an xbox 360 for this piece of crap. They need to work on making a decent game instead of hype.

Halo 2 was so absolutely terrible it was a top seller and is the most played game on xbox live.

I do dislike the single player and the MP isnt as skill oriented as its predacessor, I own it and I play it and I have fun. Im sure 3 will be no different

It'll likely break new gorund sales wise sight unseen. If people could pre-order it now.. I'm sure some would.

Anybody else tired of this viral marketing bull crap?

JUST MARKET THE GAME AS IS. Not some huge deal that has people running across the country to find a white rabbit.

These are real, get over it. What difference does it make, this early in production, the game that is release will obviously look nothing like this. If I had to take a guess, I'd say this is from the demo that was shown behind closed doors at E3, where the announcement trailor "level" was flown around in in real-time to prove the clip was not pre-rendered.

Of course I'd love to know what "classic mode" is all about, if there are any plans to in-clude that in the final version of the game.
