Where Do You Rent Games? Or Buy Used Games
« on: April 23, 2006, 12:13:00 AM »

if i had a 360
i would get all my games through gamefly

i would have the one game at a time deal becuase i can only play one game at once(also im a ut addict)

$180 a year aint bad
i should average 8 to 9 games a year

my local grocery store has every 360 game released
and no one rents them laugh.gif  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

Blockbuster, I get two free rentals a month for 17.99, get to walk into the store and get it (as well as have as many movies I want shipped to my house)  and if i like the game enough I can buy it from them minus the rental fee (free for me, but takes 8 dollars off the sale)

I use GameLender, but I wouldn't recomend them I think I might cancel my service.

I litterally have every 360 game availble in my queue, and ALL of them have a wait  dry.gif

I've waited almost 2 weeks now and got nothing, I can't comment on turn around time if they don't send anything.

I might try Gamerang next, I haven't heard good things about Gamefly (at least with shipping to my area) either.

gamefly works... if you only use it for games that you plan to play for a couple weeks... ive gotten every game on my Q when i wanted it, no beef here; as you said tho... turnaround time is kinda crappy... although not as bad as it could be...

my bbuster is 6.99 for a techincally 35 day rental....

rent it, and you have 5 days to bring it back, after that, then you have another 10 days before they charge your CC for the full price minus rental fee, then after they charge you, you have another 20 days to return it at a $1.37 restocking charge.

not bad if you plan to keep a specific game for a month... a great way to find out if you are going to get bored or a games online or single player without a 60 dollar commitment

I got grandfathered in on the blockbuster online.  They used to give you two free instore  game or movie rentals a month.  Now they give you 4 movie rentals a month.  There is rumored that they will be doing an online rental service for games too.

if you were a member when they gave out the 2 free game/movie rentals, they gave you the option when they switched... i opted for the 2 game rentals, since i already have bbuster online for movies.

edit: NOT 17 bucks... $6.99

So you guys do a online rental then you can borrow 2 games for 6.99?

smh..... lol, if you go in the store, and rent a game... its going to cost you $6.99 REGARDLESS of whether or not you have blockbuster online.

and its 17 bucks? Wait i dont get it lol i got grandfathered? you mean your grand father works there or something lol... really seriously i dont get it..

Grandfathered in mean that since I was a member before they changed their plans to movies only, I got to keep the same plan unchanged.  Another example is costco, a couple years ago they changed their return policy for computers to six months.  People that bought a computer before that were still allowed to return it after 6 months had passed.

So I get to keep the same plan that I had before they changed their policy.  Which is 2 free instore game or movie rentals plus they mail me movies from blockbuster online (3 out at a time).  All of this is for 17.99 a month.

If I use the free instore rentals on a game and decide to buy the game later, then they subtract the cost of the rental and i owe the difference.

for instance

game costs 60 minus 6.99 rental so if I want the game it only costs me 53 bucks.

I use Blockbuster myself.  Gamepass means no late fee's and I can take it back as often as I'd like.

My little brother lives in the middle of nowhere though, closest place for him to rent is 45 minutes away.  So he uses www.gameznflix.com.  He just started using it a few weeks ago, but the 2 games he asked for came with only a 1 day delay.  One thing I did notice though, is they didn't have Oblivion available to rent.  Not sure if there were other's not available, didn't look that deep into it.

I signed up with gameznflix because Circuit City made me buy a month of it for 2 bucks after a 15 dollar coupon when I bought my 360 over a week ago.  So I signed up and queued up 3 games that were not available.  PGR3, Oblivion, and Kameo ..and they all shipped the next day and I got them all the day after that.  Strange, but I think they are going to be really responsive and I rather pay 16 bucks a month for 3 games out at a time than buy a 60 dollar game i'll probably just play a bunch and throw in the corner to collect dust.  Makes a lot of sense for me.

I'm in portland, me and I dont know where they are shipped from.  It looks like gamefly has future releases in that 57...I think for the most part gameznflix has most of the games that gamefly does except a few sports games?
