worst kept "secret" in the industry, I've known about it for around 6months, had it denied by Peter a few months ago then rather sheepishly un-denied (is there such a word) about a month ago... guess he'll be starting up a new company within a few years then.

i have much respect for the man and it doesnt bother me how he shoots for goals that may be beyond reach at the moment.

how is this a bad thing?  wouldnt MS be one of the biggest funding publishers out now?  i dont see much changing from how it has been before anyways.

it's good because we get some great exclusive franchises now, it's bad because some of the creative power behind what made those franchises great will be leaving...

oh i understand and agree that is why i was concerned about Peter leaving.  however maybe its just PR talk and M_hael knows something we dont know (as usual) but in this quote it seems that Peter is happy with the purchase, so im hoping that he wont be leaving....

QUOTE
"We could not be more excited about being part of MGS. They have long supported our creative vision, and this teamwork resulted in the hugely successful 'Fable' franchise," said Molyneux, managing director of Lionhead Studios. "This acquisition gives Lionhead the stability and opportunity to focus on creating world-class next-generation titles. We are joining some of the most incredible game creators in the industry, the combined talent of which will truly take next-generation gaming to a new level."

if i understand correctly, isnt lionhead studios the studio that he created from scratch so long ago?  i hope he wouldnt be so willing to leave something he poured so much time/love/effort into.

I had heard rumors that EA was looking to purchase them. I am 100% glad that they will not trash another company.

trash another company?  what do you mean.  did they trash criterion or some other company?  With MS it's expected that they'd buy out companies that produce games that people play on their system.  so that they can sell it solely for their system and windows.  i thought MS had more companies under their belt but in all honesty.  the games that those companies have made, I never got into so much.  like halo I basically play it for the multiplayer.  i dislike h2.  fable is cool.  but i don't know why i never got into it.  I got perfect dark 0 and i agree with the one's that don't find it to be a fun good game.  but we'll see.

And also from someone's earlier post saying that peter seems to be happy.  maybe it's just a front.  you can't just willingly go in public and diss the company that bought you out, and expect everything to be ok right?  maybe he's just buying time until he feels he can leave on a good standing.

agree completely, worst thing to happen to critereon.......

just hope someone buys up ubisoft and its teams (my favourite devs/publisher group) before EA, or if possibly (dont know their current $$) keep going on their own.

well blak i found to be lame.  but like the burnout series when ea got it 3 and up.  i liked much better than 1 and 2.  I don't knwo what else critereon has under their belt of games.  Also just because MS bought them doesn't mean they'll make them a better company for all we know they might produce some trash because of being under MS.  but who know's.
