There are a few games I'm interested in purchasing, but not at $60 per. Ridge Racer 6, Tiger Woods, and the two NBA games all get pushed back until they're $20 or $30. Full Auto almost got pushed back for me, until I got a free faceplate with it.

What's sad is there's no doubt that higher game prices hurt sales, which means that the publishers have no choice  dry.gif but to raise prices to compensate for lost profits...

I think actually, for the xbox 360, this is probabley the most games I have ever bought for a system, aside from the 5 I initially bought with the original xbox (granted this was after the price had dropped to 180)

Hmmm... yeah I've bought
Kameo
Perfect Dark
Madden 06
Full Auto
Fight Night
Ghost Recon
COD2
Oblivion

and probabley will pick up GOW and Halo 3 whenever it comes out....

but you know how it sucks for canadians, TAX. One minute your buying a 69.99 cad game, the next moment it's like 84 cad dollars no joke.

Also, I don't like to buy used games, why bother risking if it will work or not when just spending 20 dollars more gurrantying it will work.

Just be glad you don't live in the UK, games here are between £44.99 and £49.99 which works out to around 78-86 US dollars. Needless to say i haven't bought many!

Well if the games were $30-$40 I would probably have bought/be buying more games, but at $50 a piece, there really isnt much of a difference.  I guess for every 5 games at $60 you could get 6 if they were $50, but the price difference isnt too much of a change.

Right now I have:
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Call of Duty 2
Perfect Dark Zero
Project Gotham Racing
Tiger 06
Madden 06

Also, back when the N64 was in its prime those games were in the $60 range, so we have seen this before.  I also expected a price jump with the nex-gen consoles, because (I dont know much about video game designing but I assume) it takes longer to develop the games, and there are larger teams of people working on each game so the price has to be a little higher to make some money back, plus how much money MS is losing on each console.

All the retail stores see next to no profit from selling these games.  Best buy only gets about 5 dollars for each sale.  It all has to do with how much these games are begining to cost in development.

True for me as well
I've got
Perfect Dark Zero LE
Project Gotham Racing 3
Condemned
Kameo
Dead or Alive 4
Tony Hawk American Wasteland
Amped 3
Call of Duty 2
Ridge Racer 6

and I've got Oblivion on Pre Order

I've taken to Trading games... once I'm done with one I'll just outright trade it for something else through the BST... new game to play and all you pay is shipping beerchug.gif

I call BS on this... I have a friend who works for BB and with his discount can get 360 games for less then $45 there is no way they would take a hit for employee discount. Not to mention if you shop around online Fry's among other places charge $50 to $55 for games that are $60 elsewhere. What do you think they just GIVE them away. In general game markup is close to 50% on the retail side, I would suspect it's no different with the 360.

Yea but then again, your money is worth more then our money is. (thank you george w. bush  dry.gif ) . But i think it is kinda bullshit, $10 more for 'next-gen'. Its just not fair. But they know they can do it, cause the masses will still buy it.

10.00 is nothing when it comes down to it.

obviously people agree or the attach rate for the 360 wouldnt have clobbered the xboxs attach rate that held the record and had cheaper games. If that little price hike makes or breaks purchases, there are other issues in ones life that need to be looked at.

its funny how the software price was such a huge topic, and there were people who swore up and down that if they were 60.00 each, they wouldnt buy them. We laughed at those people and look what they did, snatched up as many as they could  laugh.gif

i dont really see why people are so set on the price to determine if they buy a game, i know i would easily pay 80$ for a quality game. think about it this way a movie costs 20-30$ and if you watch it twice you get 3-5 hours out of it. i know i will have alot more than 5 hours of enjoyment from games like GRAW, GEARS and PGR3.
