MS And Ubisoft In Talks To Acquire Lionhead Studios

QUOTE
According to GI, both MS and Ubisoft are currently in preliminary talks with Peter Molyneux's development house Lionhead Studios about a buyout. Electronic Arts was ruled out as a possible buyer, a stroke of luck there. Of the two, it seems MS is going to be the front runner, which means XBox360 exclusive Lionhead titles.

I thought Ubisoft was being bought by either EA or MS??  What are they doing buying Lionhead?  Did I get confused somewhere?

Still, it's good that EA isn't getting a chance... they don't need anymore IP to fuck up.

Personally I hope this works out as id love to see what Peter M. and crew would have in store for the 360. Aside from its incredible shortness Fable is one of my most favorite games. Now if they could of stretched it into 50+ hours of gameplay before its beaten then it would easily be #2 or 3 for me.

Its only natural for MS to buy YET ANOTHER british development team (bungie, rare, bizarre). And they should too. Molyneux and crew are really innovative and talented and their time is better spent on console development, since their PC games like B&W 2 wasnt all that well accepted.

Doh lets say british or former colonial-based wink.gif English speaking nonetheless. I thought bizarre is an MS game studio and has done only xbox games ever since MS bought them over in early xbox1 development.

MS' anglo-bias is both good and bad, since they already missed out on DICE and are totally ignoring most eastern european talent.

MS does NOT own Bizarre, end of story.

Bizarre will be making titles for other systems as mentioned a few months back, but MS will retain rights to PGR series, Im guessing.

Why is Ubisoft in discussions WITH MS on this matter? EA wants to buy, err overthrow Ubi but Ubi has gone on record saying they will not allow that to happen.

MS to save the day! ubi should let MS buy them, and they could jointly buy Lionhead. Fuck EA and the sony ship they rode in on, shepherd poo stabbers  grr.gif

And for those of you are happy about this(I know Kage is aware of the following)..

you can Thank Peter Moore for the good relations with all these developers. He had close ties with them when at sega, and he naturally caried over the relationships. Peter Moore is genious(other than tattooing that pos halo 2 onto his arm).

EA wouldnt let MS do much with Dice seeing as they have owned them for a while now. Itll be interesting to see what happens with all of that cluster fuck. fuggin EA, the bane of the industry!

Man thats pretty shocking about Bizarre.. they could just drop MS at the blink of an eye and make the next geowars killer arcade game for the PS3.

I mentioned DICE because they are age-old (actually a combination of at least Refractions and DICE) since 386 days, have a rock solid line of games on the PC with BF42 and BF2, and did many of of the xbox1 show-off titles like Midtown3 and Rallisport Challenge 1 & 2.

So in a way they are the potential future of Bizarre, apart from that Bizarre is less known and has no equal established PC franchise. EA can just gobble them up at any time.

In fact, both Sony and MS let Criterion be taken over by EA. Their Renderware engine and Burnout series were pretty important for the early days of the PS2 (GTA3 etc) and yet Sony did not protect them from a takeover.

In a way, Unreal Engine 3 is the next-gen Renderware that lets devs make great things with ease. Now who will take over Epic?
