PSO hasn't been free since the original dc version, i say original because the v2 on dreamcast had a fee. i have heard 12.95/month for the new phantasy star :/ i thought that pso was a great game, but definately not worth 10 bucks a month. here's a real good pso site that i used to get all my info from http://www.pso-world.com/

the current PSO for the xbox and gamecube charge around $8 a month for its fee.  the new one FSU (fantasy star universe) got delayed rescently actually for the ps2 so i wouldnt expect ANY news on a 360 version any time soon.

Oh I wasnt really referring to a 360 version in general.

Either way I am not paying a monthly fee to play

i agree with the any time soon, but apparently they said they are interested in supporting for years to come, but it was worded in a way that sounded like there could be a 360 version much like how they did PSO episode 1+2 for the gc/xbox. of course thats all speculation, but sega has no beating a dead horse for a buck. also i think i read that psu's offline mode is not the online mode by yourself like PSO was, i heard its an actual story based action rpg with premade characters etc.

Phantasy Star Universe: EGM Rumor - PSU is coming to the 360

Phantasy Star Universe
Ancient writes "In the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, the Quarter Man (rumor) section of the magazine is quoted as saying:

Roughly 250 hours - that's how much time The Q has logged on all the different versions of Phantasy Star Online. So yeah, you could say that I'm a tad bit excited for this summer's full-fledged sequel, Phantasy Star Universe. And now it seems that PS2 owners won't be the only ones losing their social life to this off-and-online role-playing game, as PSU will also arrive on the Xbox 360. Oh, one more thing: If you start playing the game on Sony's console, you will be able to transfer your online character - thanks to all stats and items being saved on Sega's servers - to the Xbox 360 version (which will hit a few months after the PS2 installment).

True, the Q is devoted to rumors and deep inside scoops. But I cant remember the last time he was wrong about things. I suppose you could hold off the celebratory parades untill Sega officially announces it, but I think the chances are looking very favorable now."

would be pretty cool to see it make its way over after a few months like this says

Many hours were lost playing PSO on the old Dreamcast. My first online gaming experience on a console too.
It was a bit of a pain in the ass to find free dialup internet service though..

especially since it wouldn't work with a broadband connection, even after the DC Broadband adaptor was released, i remember PSO version 1 back in the day smile.gif i still love the episode 1 & 2 on the xbox, i'm not wild about the monthly fee, but if it comes with a free month or two, maybe i'll pick up PSU, play the offline, and play the online for the free time + a month or two.

PSO ver. 1 and 2 were my favorite online rpg's and still are. The dreamcast gave me some of the best gaming experiences I've ever had on a console. . . particularly the first sonic adventure and the first shenmue. I think I'll find another copy of shenmue and beat it again. . . be like the third copy I've owned tongue.gif

very very true.  although i wasnt a hater, i loved the xbox early on because it had so many DC games coming to it.  (jet set future, shenmue, sega GT, and the biggest to me of all panzer dragoon!!)  i loved PSO ver. 1 and 2 on the DC and loved it still on the xbox even though the voice lag was a drag.  even if i dont play PSU online i would still buy it because yes its true that it is supposed to have a full fledged single player story like the classic PS games just with the gameplay that you would experience online.  as long as they dont make the single player half assed i say sign me up for another quality RPG.
