I'd say that given the marketing and sales stragegties we've seen in the last gen, and before, there will most certainly be reduced priced software down the road. Way.. down the road.
I think all indications show that you'll be able to pick up major titles for less on a Platinum-type series, but I personally wouldn't hold my breath now.
Example: The Platinum Hits versions of MechAssault, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell came out Nov/Holidays 2003, some two years after the console release. MechAssult went Platinum a year after its release. Halo didn't become a PH title until quite some time, when people finally stopped shelling out 50 bucks for it (it even got a 29.99 USD price cut before "actually" becoming a PH title). DOA3, a launch title, became a PH title in, what, late August of 2003?
Game, save money, but strike a balance.
