Need New Game
« on: January 08, 2006, 11:19:00 AM »

Yesterday I went to Future Shop to get a new game but I didnt know what one to choose. I have Perfect Dark Zero, Call Of Duty 2, Condemned: Criminal Origins, Kameo, and FIFA 2006: Road To The World Cup. I am not interested in getting any of the EA Sports games because they all suck the only one that I like is FIFA 2006: Road To The World Cup.

So I was at Future Shop and there was three titles that I was interested in, Dead Or Alive 4, King Kong, Gun, and Need For Speed: Most Wanted.

I never did like any of the other Dead Or Alive games and found them real boring, is this one different in gameplay? I know the graphics have changed alot but all I want is a fun game.

King Kong..... my friends brother told me that it makes all the launch Xbox 360 games look like sh*t. I played it a few times at the kiosk but never enough so I dont know.

Gun, I know the graphics are horrible but I heard its a fun game. I liked the Xbox game Dead Red Revolver's singleplayer and multiplayer gameplay alot and just wondering if Gun is similar to it.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted has sweet graphics and has alot of good reviews but I dont know if it is a replayable game after you beat it. I seen it on a huge DLP tv at Future Shop and it looks amazing. I never seen PGR 3 before but some people say that the graphics arent that great and some say that the graphics are jaw dropping.

I have played them all, first go rent them @ rogers or blockbuster $5 each

If your like me DOA4 is not any different than DOa3, so you won't like it

King Kong, best grpahics of all games, I don't think so, but they are good. But gameplay gets boring keep throwing sticks at 100s of dinosaurs, overal not bad but game is like 6 hours, rent it and you will finish it in 1 weekend.

Gun, was fun and graphics, I didn't think were bad at all. From the gamespot reviews they said the bad graphics stand out mores o in HD than on SD. Fun game

NFS MW, awesome, I rented and then just bought this game, awesome graphics, I don't like Sims so this is far better (to me) than PGR3 (which i sold) Solid gameplay and online is awesoem no lag what so ever

Overal, I recommened NFS MW or to wait... But go rent them, all first thats what I did, I rented DOA4, Quake4, NHL2K6, King Kong, GUN, Condemed, and they are $6 @ rogers for 5 day rentals

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on games. My personal opinion is that NFS:MW is one of the worst games I have seen in years and here is why:

Unbarable frame stutter (due to rushing for release) - i do know PD0 does it on cut scenes but not in game.

PS2 style textures. (typical EA to make a game for the worst platform and then just up the resolution and make all the cars shiny for more superioir hardware, what do they think we are? fucking magpie's?)

Awful handling.

Some of the worst acting I have ever seen in cut scenes (some people actually dubbed these 'awesome'. makes me wrech) infact didn't everyone get bored of FMV when Night Trap came out?

The fact that EA are actually charging more for a game that is barely different to it's previous generation counterpart. (ie the xbox version)

Seeeeeite physics.

It's made by EA.

I think that's about it. I know EA have published some amazing games and I loved NFS on the 3DO. Let's have battlefield 2 for 360 & fight night looks like it's gonna be cool. I just can't believe they think they can get away with releasing such a bad game. At least in publications with a good reputation like Edge they ripped this game apart. You might as well just buy it for your PS2. Hell! It'll be cheaper and it looks the same!

Woooooooooosa

Ok.

I'm calm now.

I'm gonna stop right there.

Anyway that's just my opinion. I know lots of people won't agree and that's absolutely fine by me and I won't argue with them either.

I would get PGR3 ( believe me that game is not what you expect - it's out of this fucking world and I generally don't play racing games)

or

Ridge Racer - That's right RIDGE RACER!! A game that has been completely over looked during the 360 launch. It's a gem! The series went way way way way way down hill after Rage Racer but since Ridge Racers on PSP it's getting really good! Edge reviewed it as the second best launch title. That's saying something cos they usually tear Ridge games to shreds.

and finally

Dead or Alive 4 - A bit of a purists game? Hell yeah but if you're not then it's a good reason to get it. The previous post did have a point about it being alike to previos iterations but that doesn't stop it being fun. It's also very very pretty (if you don't believe that photo realism = good visuals)

PGR3 has some jaggies but asside from that it's easily one of the best looking games on the Xbox

NFSMW really doesn't have that great of graphics, download the demo, it's free and will give you a good taste of the game graphics. I'm a racing game fan, if I were to choose between the 3 racers availble I'd pick up Ridge Racer long before I'd pickup NFS, and I'd pickup PGR3 long before that. Also you could probably beat it in a weekend if you put your mind too it, PGR3 would take a few weeks AT LEAST.

PGR 3 has wowed even non-console gamers, it looks THAT good. Not to mention it's cheaper then the other titles.

IMO: PRG3 > Ridge Racer > NFS MW

If you like the Burnout series maybe just wait for that to come out.

Gun and King Kong are both short games as well, rent them, beat them, return them, then look for something else.

DOA4 is (as the tagline states) "Drop Dead Gorgous" hands down the best looking title on the Xbox 360. But if you didn't like the past DOAs you probably wont like this one. Gameplay is much deeper now, there are more arena and characters to choose from, a whole lot of unlockables as usual, and a great online mode. But the core of the game remains the same.

If you like RPGs the FFXI beta test will be starting anyday now

See what I mean RENT THEM FIRST (best opinion)
Because I bought PGR3 and besides the buildings, the cars look animated cartoons almost, not real at all. Sold this crap. NFS MW, I have read has frame issues that do not affect gameplay, but I have not experienced them. Game play solid, grpahics great, leaves blowing, shadows on the road, if you drive towards the sun it beems on the screen just like driving a real car, if its raining rain drops will appear on your TV screen no matter what car view you are in (PGR3 has none of that) PGR3 is a sim and people liek that and thats fine. But NFS MW is great, just do what the other game said an download the demo and you will see.

One of the people above mentioned EA just pumps on graphics and nothing else changes from previous gen games. Well PGR3 is no different than PGR2 (which is not a bad thing) but this is even stated by gamespot.com .... And I haven't played a 360 game yet that is really any different than current gen games except PDZ

I download Need For Speed: Most Wanted from the marketplace and I found it pretty fun. The graphics werent that impressive but I loved the controls (handling was very easy). I didnt have any police cars chasing me though while I was racing. From what I see in this thread I guess I have to go with Project Gotham Racing 3. I want a game that is fun and will be very replayable and Project Gotham Racing 3 seems to match. I will buy Need For Speed: Most Wanted in about two weeks once I am done with PGR3.

Thanks for the advice twistedsymphony.

Project Gotham Racing 3 is on the Xbox Live marketplace so I will download it and see if it is better then Need For Speed: Most Wanted.

I just played Project Gotham Racing 3 and I thought that it was a good game. Graphics are nuts, when you chose you car from the garage it looks so real. The thing that I dont like about the game is thats its too plain, there is nothing you can do but drive in circles and no breakable objects. Need For Speed: Most Wanted has more gaming modes and the graphics are pretty good. The controls in Need For Speed: Most Wanted are much more easier rather then Project Gotham Racing 3 its very hard to make those sharp turns. Overall I think that Project Gotham Racing 3 has better graphics but it lacks in gameplay.
