I played Half-Life2 on my PC rig a year a go (which I just upgraded a month earlier with A64 3200, 1GB and 6800GT) and loved it (though was slightly disappointed by the wacky vehicle physics after Halo2's love).

I've now played the xbox version somewhere past the "root canal" with the annoying diving section coming up.

The game is just as good as on the PC, you can play a section a couple times to blow bridges down and have the enemies fly everywhere from barrels etc. Full of innovation and next gen splendour what comes to using physics.

Its great for the xbox crowd that its on xbox but it saddens me to think what a kickass launch title it would have made for X360. I mean it would have been the PC version with 150% quality and couldhave even included HL2DM or even CS Source. Think of running all the physics on the second core so it never slows down and you can cram even more physics stuff in the maps if you want.

Even as a single player game it would have put the likes of Quake4 and CoD2 to shame.

On a similar note its great to see Monolith do Condemned for the X360 but they might want to port FEAR over aswell.

BTW thats something NOBODY has talked about to date.. do games like Halo2 run better, same or worse? Does HL2 run better because they optimized it directly for the X360 themselves?

From an emulation standpoint you could scale the emulated CPU power to meet the demand of the game at any given point, but you cant just set it to full 3.2ghz if the games are timed to the 733mhz of the original xbox (remember that cpu upgrade mod for the xbox1? It screwed alot of games into running too fast).

It is their responsibility! That game is sooo good and they haven't said anything about a port. It would be such waste if it didn't appear at some point.

From that Halo2 X360 video I think I saw the same kinds of slowdown as on the xbox1. I was hoping especially Halo1 coop split screen would run better as it truly crawls in the less than 10 frames sometimes.

But if it doesnt, I dont blame them because it might require a large overhaul to time each game to a faster CPU.. and it would give an unfair advantage to MP.

Yes that definetly helps  Looking forward to playing it again to check out the differences. Halo 2 just got bumped to the second BC game I'll be trying. thanks oh by the way your pretty brave to be cuttin up that nice blue box aren't you? If that one would have come out a little earlier I would have ended up with one of those instead of a crystal.

Yeah the Halo 2 LE is my baby but unfortunately for it, the 360 just took its place!

unfortunately i just picked up half life 2 for xbox and stuck it in the 360. Lets just say i was dissapointed. The game on the PC was great fantastic no prob whatsoever (more fun with garys mod) but when i played it on xbox it drops so many frames and the framerate is not what i expected.

what i would have to say is if you have it on pc dont buy it for xbox but if you dont have a bomb pc then go and buy it becaus its a great game.

overall it ran a hell of a lot better on my pc than the xbox.

I've been playing this on my 360 all week.

Sure the framerste can crawl, but everything else was cool until...

I encountered some major bugs while playing on the dune buggy level.

While crossing a load point the buggy repeatedly dropped through the level.  I couldn't load a savepoint without the vehicle disappearing either.

Basically the game is unplayable for me at this point.   I tried multiple restarts and saving strategies, but nothing worked.

Hopefully it will sort itself out, I really want to finish this game. sad.gif
