I second that.  Inverted veiwing sucks HUGE ass for FPS.  Inversion belongs in airplanes.

Is it Nov 22 yet?!?! :( lol

im happy for all this.

but did anyone else laugh at the fact that they zoomed the 480 6 times while they only zoomed the 720 3 times?

having that kind of difference in magnification can change a lot...

First I was so happy I felt this sinking feeling in my gut but then I opened the screenshots!

Ok before anybody ELSE gets too excited, some of the large pixels you see in there like the left pant leg of the sarge in http://www.bungie.net/images/news/inlineim.../halo2cine2.jpg or the railings to the left under the red light are indeed HUGE compared to the pixels of the actual resolution.

Unless bungie is totally screwing us over by actually doing nothing but upscaling the widescreen version of the original 720x480 to 720p in bilinear, then the only explanation for those huge pixels are that they are textures or pixels of textures.

But that doesnt explain why intersecting polygons on the packs of the soldiers belt on the right have huge pixels. The only way that can happen is when the guy touching up the upscaled screenshot forgets to run an antialiased line over that spot in photoshop.

And they even added a subtle noise or film grain into the upscaled version to give it a less blurrier look. Cheap.

Certainly nothing what I was expecting. But I'm glad the rest are accepting it like a message from god.

Or maybe I was expecting too much, and maybe all the blurriness is caused by the people who cannot accept sharp per-pixel images and bungie has to rely on "more blur, no MORE!"

It's becuase it a lower resolution, so they have to zoom in more to get it the same size on the screen.

I use vertical inversion. It's more comfortable. I feel as if the joystick is a part of my hand, therefore rotating my hand upwards (thumb concentrated) makes the gun point down, while rotating my hand downwards (thumb pointing to my stomach) points the gun upwards. It's basically the same movement and feel more realistic than poiting up and aiming up (no feel in it for me).
I don't use inverted horizontal, though, since you almost always rotate your body to aim across the x axis.

It's all personaly preference, though. I'm not downplaying non-inverted, since pointing up to look up makes a lot of sense - I'm just not comfortable with it.

Ahh booger. Cant edit the post now. I need to put down my Sherlock spyglass, put on my monocle and read the text on the site. They say its a video capture (explains FN GRAIN) and yadda thadda and the rest are texture pixels I presume. Ok sorry my mistake. Poison? No, just for me? OKIE!

It's also gritty because they are trying to display how 'interlaced' looks. It's kind of hard to do on a progressive monitor (which we are all using, no?).

I couldn't give a shit about what the screen shots look like; never can trust them one way or another.  I already know what halo fing looks like, and just the knowledge that it will be in 720p with some AA is reason enough to get excited.  Plus, if you ever played halo 1 PC in higher res, you know exactly what you will be getting; and i must say it is good.

I wonder now since halo 2 will be in 720p, if the viewable screen will be increased because of the increased res, like how some pc games work?  If so, that would make halo 2 playable for me.

I'm guessing it would. Either that or it decreases size, but that is very unlikely.

One of the greatest thing is that splitscreen will be much more playable, with 640 in splitscreen objects are difficult to discern. In 720 there is at least a 3x resolution increase meaning even with half the screen you have more pixels than fullscreen on the original xbox.

Sony will have a difficult time trying to characterize the x360 backwards compatibility as inferior to the press. It would be great if other "top selling" titles also supported the resolution increase.
