I just called ebgames and they said that I won't be able to pick up a 360 until after christmas.
I called futureshop and they said that they will probably only have enough to cover the preorders.
I called best buy and they said that there might be some available aside from preorders but they aren't sure how many they will be getting in the first place.
I called walmart and they reccomended I come in at 8:00 in the morning and 'might not' be getting a second shipment then next week.
I called costco and they aren't even sure when they will be getting theirs in. Even if it's on launch, it will probably come with 2 games, which will just be a waste of money for me since I'm strapped.

Walmart is my only hope right now. Have any of you had experience with Xbox's or other consoles being sold out on walmart in the first day? Remind you that I live in a small area (which might not mean too much since our EbGames has their preorders sold out).

I'd have to get Kameo and Halo 2 at my local Ebgames either way since I have 150$ credit there and only enough actual cash to buy a 360 and controller.

If I get it at Costco, for example, how much do you think a brand new sealed game would be worth if I sell it to EbGames?

If I can't get a 360 within at least 2weeks of it's release, I'm gonna snap.
Anyways, can someone answer my questions?

Best Buy?  Rumor mill says they are getting 60 units at each store.  Depending on when they open (midnight or 9am) dictates whether I go there or Walmart.  I KNOW Walmart will be open at midnight... Best Buy isn't a definite yet.

As for the bundled games... as long as they are unopened, Best Buy will give you store credit for them.  They even take games that have been opened and re-wrapped by Blockbuster...

I heard Best Buy dropped their preorder plans (so sayeth the manager at my local Best Buy) so all 60'ish, if they get that many, will be first come first serve.  They are handing out tickets to the first X number of people.  Not sure if you have to be there to claim it, or if you can leave after you get your ticket.  I need more details and we are running out of time!!!

Oh, and YES.  Walmart will sell out, instantly.  If the PS2 launch is any shade of the 360 launch, they will sell out in 40 minutes.  I'm taking the day off (21st and 22nd) to wait in line.  I don't mind waiting, I just want to know how many the fugging store is getting!

Damn. Maybe I'll get to costco and see if they get them in (even though they aren't sure if they'll be getting them in on Nov 22nd, but I am sure they will). The guy I talked to said that they might have more details in a week or two (they better have more info in 2 weeks). It will probably be in a bundle, so maybe I can bring the games to EbGames and sell them for a nice bit of store credit...

Man, this fugging sucks. No store knows jack-shit. Stupid MS doesn't want to tell their retailers anything.

AHHHGGG  grr.gif  sad.gif  grr.gif

Wouldn't BestBuy be sold out, even if they do get 60 in (my local bestbuy said that they did preorders, so there might only be 30 or so). I mean, if walmart consoles get sold out in a lower profile area, then wouldn't Best Buy consoles get sold out in a higher profile area?

grr.gif  grr.gif  grr.gif Anyone got some advice? I can't 'camp out'. I'm only 16 and that is just out of the question. I can't take that day of school off, nor can I ask my parents to go and pick me one up while I'm at school because they have work as well.

How it went down at Walmart for the PS2 launch was the first 30 people in line got tickets at 11pm.  Then everyone else could either buy their ticket for whatever amount or they could wait until the winners left and buy their PS2.  I left thinking I'd get one later in September or October... ha.  I didn't get one until April.  Not trying to bring you down, just giving the facts.

The best thing you can do is ask/bribe an older sibling/friend to get it for you.

I would be fine with waiting a month, but gosh darnit I'm too hyped and I've had nothign to do in my house that has to do with gaming for the past 5 months. Hell, I'd be fine with Halo 2 'for now'. Just give me my 360!  grr.gif
I guess I'll be stuck watching video reviews and gameplay vids to get my 'gaming fix; until I can get my sweet hands on a 360. I can't see myself getting the core version with the hdd seperate and Xbox Live subscription so I can get the headset because I'm too strapped for cash as it is. 360 with extra wired controller is 640-ish (tax calculated). Kameo and Halo 2 alone is around 115 (tax calculated) and I'd have to use my EbGames credit for it as well. Theoretically, I have enough for an EbGames Xbox Live 12 month subscription (they said They are selling it for only 59.99, while most other places near me are selling it for 79.99).

All in canadian dollars, btw.

for those of you wondering how it went down with the xbox launch at walmart here goes.

day before launch i got off work at 5pm, went to the closest walmart expecting to be first in line, man was i wrong.  the store was only getting 20 xbox, we where directed to layaway section where they gave us a number you had to stay in layaway you could not leave or you loose your place in line.  needless to say i was number 15 some people said they had been there since 2pm that day.  i went to the outdoors section grabbed a nice lawn chair with recline and all.  kicked back and sat in layaway.  later that night i phoned in some pizza and ate infron of everyone haha.. anyways im expecting it to be similar this year except my walmart is only getting 10!  its a good thing im on vacation that week i will be in line by noon.  i have to have 360 that night!!

Plan A:
In line at Walmart before 11:30.
Walk out with 360 by 12:05

Plan B (if Walmart falls through):
Sleep in car at BestBuy's parking lot.
In line when they open at 8:00
Walk out with 360 by 8:00

Plan C (if Best Buy falls through)
Rush to Target by 8:05
Walk out with 360 by 8:10

Plan D (if Target falls through)
Rush to Circuit City by 8:10
Walk out with 360 by 8:15

Plan E (if Circuit City falls through)
Rush to any and every possible store that may have 360s in stock.
Find a 360 or die trying.
