Allard & Co Fire Shots At Sony
« on: October 15, 2005, 08:33:00 AM »

now i know most of you will be thinking that they are pulling a Kenny K by yelling out fighting words.  but from the article they arent downplaying the ps3 or calling it a ps2.5.  IMO they are saying things that a lot of us have been saying ever since Kenny first started his verbal assaults.  i just thought this article was amusing.  they are wrong in that i dont think that sony will have to do anything at all to excite people for the ps3 as they are already excited for it without even knowing anything about it.

this post was just for fun so no huge flaming or insults to anyone.   biggrin.gif

Allard & Co fire shots at Sony!
14 Oct 2005 5:46pm

With Japanese interest rising, let the war of the words begin!

With the successful X05 event behind them, MS execs have a right to be in a bullish mood.

They are attempting the first ever ‘global’ launch of a new console and figures in the weeks Famitsu magazine suggest that interest in their machine has increased by 1.9% (up to 23.9% from 22% previously reported) in Japan – traditionally MS’s sales banana skin.

So a few self assured comments from MS supremo’s are hardly a surprise. Especially when you consider both Sony and Nintendo will launch their own next-gen machines some time after the Xbox 360.

Speaking to MCV, Xbox UK boss Neil Thompson said this on the situation “I’ll be happy to compete whenever they turn up (Sony), but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s not until spring ’07 - if they hit Xmas ’06, then maybe it’ll be a very thin launch; a launch in name only.”

Not to be outdone, Xbox head honcho J Allard also weighed in – this time bemoaning Sony’s lack of playable software at any of this years gaming shows “We don't want to hide behind videos, we don't want to hide behind CGI movies, we don't want to hide behind false promises – everything we showed on stage was real. Our medium is an interactive one. Showing isn't enough."

Chief Xbox officer Robbie Bach was surprised with Sony’s lack of firm details with a supposed launch of the PS3 early next year; he commented “I was stunned they didn’t announce anything at E3 or TGS. Whatever they do, they’re going to be chasing us for a long, long time.”

The final word has to go to Allard though, tearing a can of whoop ass open with his teeth he said “There’s a big gap between what Sony claims and what they’ve shown. You might have thought our X05 presentation was a bit on long side, but they’ll need an eight-hour press conference pretty soon just to give people confidence in that spring ’06 date they’ve mentioned. There’s a lot of stuff they just don’t have in place yet. They make nice movies, though”

Oh snap! There we were thinking that earring was a clip on!

For responses to this verbal assault and for any future comments coming out of the MS camp (perhaps a cleaner would like to tear a strip off of Sony for poor dress sense and bad haircuts), keep it www.OXM.co.uk

Nah, that's why at E3, 80% of your shit was CG, 'artists impressions' videos.

That's why we've yet to see a single direct feed video of a finished product.

That's why you're launching in a few weeks with gamers not knowing what is real and what is not...
- will AA be suddenly turned on with the flick of a switch in games?
- will Oblivion flick the switch and suddenly turn on shadows like the big headed developers say and then will the frame rate hold up?
- has the Perfect Dark media been a hoax and it really does look better than a current gen Xbox game or have you spent zillions on a dud company?
- why are EA releasing a hundred launch titles that have shiploads of missing features from their current gen versions, while still being graphically 'crappy'?

MS have rushed this console out, hoping to get the same lead in sales that the PS2 had yet now they seem to be packing shit, hoping the PS3 isn't using this extra time to blow them away, scared that they may be lost in the middle just like the Dreamcast was

Gotta be one of the stupidest things i ever read around here.........anyways, not trying to start a flame war or anything, on to more intelligent discussion.......

I personally dont like the shots that MS been taking, though theyre not as bad as Kenny's were but they still seem like bad taste to me. I mean if its looking bad for sony right now, we dont need MS to show us that........ it already shows.

oh yeah xbox and ps3 both run off 3.2 ghz processors. as far as bluray, that size of media really is not needed with a freaking hard drive. it just more expensive to make. ps3 has a slight technical advantage, but nothing that the xbox 360 cant pull off in one way or another. plus its hell of expensive to produce for the ps3. but go ahead and possibly wait till 2007., im playing next gen...next month. you guys need to understand xbox 360 launch titles were rushed not the system. it was built pefectly to supprot next gen, if that wasnt true ps3 spec would be projected to be twice the power of xbox...its not. matter of fact 75% of the current next gen titles are for both systems.

like brooksie has said you can cut back the graphics, ai, and make the levels smaller in almost every game and have it be played on previous generation consoles but let me ask you this.  if you did dumb whatever game down for whatever console would it even be the same game?  sure you can use the name and basic art but if you cut half the content out wouldnt you also cut out part of what makes that game great.  oblivion wouldnt be the same if half the area was cut out, PGR3 wouldnt make you feel like a grand racer if 300k people couldnt watch you, and Kameo wouldnt be so epic if there were only 20 characters on the screen instead of over 5000.  im sorry but by saying that PDZ would be the same if dumbed down on the xbox is like saying that halo scaled down would be the same on the Dreamcast which it wouldnt.  everything in a game (from graphics, sound, and gameplay) goes together to bring us the kind of experience only that game can, and if you dumb a game down you take the chance in ruining or altering that experience entirely
