i think all this is overblown and misunderstood.
think about it for a second to all those preaching about how innovative this last generation was. now think about how lacking the generation previously to taht was. we went from the 32-bit era that had almost no physics, special effects, and massive worlds to the current generation that had warthog jumping, special effects galore (bump mapping, lighting, shadowing), water looking like water, fur being fuzzy. my point is that we went from almost nothing to jaw dropping (for the time) and thats why it was such a leap, because there was room for huge advancements. im not saying that there isnt room for improvement or evolution in gaming technology but i dont think it will be as easy or often as it was previously. so now were entering a generation where polys dont matter as much, textures can be produced from real photos, and where everything in the gaming world will look like its supposed to. i say wait until the damn system is ACTUALLY being taken advantage of and then, and only then, will you see the leaps everyone is expecting.
