World Air Force 360 Update
October 4th, 2005
Many next-generation developers are professing goals to use new technology to depict gameplay experiences they really couldnt with current technology. In this tradition, Taito, recently acquisitioned by Square Enix, is planning more depth for World Air Force than any console flight-simulation to date.
Besides superior graphics and more realistic plane animations/physics, Taito is boasting that in flight games up until now [console-only], players have never had to read all the flight gauges while flying, so game developers hadnt attempted to depict them all as accurately as possible. But in this game, every gauge will be fully working and true to life.
As you could guess, World Air Force is more likely to be a realistic flight-simulation at this point then an arcade style action game akin to Namcos Ace Combat series.
Furthermore, Taito says the game will feature planes from around the world, and some of the models being included are the F-117 US Stealth Bomber, Japanese F-15C fighter, (star of Top Gun and model for the Valkyrie planes of Macross), US F-14 fighter plane, Soviet Russian MIG-29A, American F/A-18 and Soviet Russian Su-27.
Currently the game is set for a winter release in Japan (its not known whether Taitos planning for the Xbox 360 launch) and due the Square Enix buyout, itll be the first Square Enix released Xbox 360 title.
