I haven't heard anything with Sony. Then again, all it takes is ONE kilelr game to make a console sucessful with the masses. Halo1 was the only mass-appealing game when Xbox1 launched. The reason why I didn't buy an Xbox and got a Ps2 is because I didn't know much about the Xbox. It seemed like, at the launch, that Xbox had sports games, one or two action games, and then Halo. It just wasn't enough of a library to make me, the 11 year old boy, want it. It seemed like a boring console, to be honest. You can't blame me. I think Xbox1 had a very weak start, with it's commercials bragging just about it being the most powerful console and not mentioning the games. With that said, throughout the years I saw that MS was getting better and better with the whole video game thing. When Halo2 launched, I still haven't laid a hand on Halo1 and I said Halo is shit and overhyped, like every other Fony Fanboy. Once I laid my hands on Halo2, I understood the hype. It got boring after 2 hours, which is why I then asked my friend to put in halo1. It was even better. The gameplay was much mroe solid and I understood how a console could go so long with this as its main attraction.

I do doubt that Sony and one of their well-known developers can develop such a title. Metal gear solid 4 won't be, Killzone 2 won't be since it's ads will still be overtaken with review quotes such as "the Halo3 killer" and "Master Chief who?".
It's funny how Sony boys seek so thoroughly for a game which they can call a true Halo killer, yet they think Halo sucks. they say Killzone is the halo killer, yet what is Killzone compared to what they think is a shitty game? If they think Halo is a 1 out of 10 and that Killzone is better than Halo, all they are saying is that they think Killzone is higher than a 1 out of 10.

Thank god I'm off of the Sony Hope-wagon.

Halo might have a bit too much hype, but Sony has too much hope.

ya knows whats pathetic?

people brag that the GTA's sell so many copies right?

10 million copies for an installed user base of 80 million? lol

thats pathetic!!

PATHETIC

Yet a game like Halo 2 does the same thing with a user base of 20 million.

I look at ratios.

I do get somewhat irritated when people think Halos are the only killer games for the system. Id rather take 2 or 3 mediocre to good games any day.

I get bored of the same shit over and over so I need things mixed up.

Lets put it this way, and I'll direct my comments towards LowProf, Twisted and Kage360...

would you rather take a single copy of Halo 2, or Halo..pick...

or a copy of Rallisport 2, DOA Ultimate and Ghost Recon 2

??

One so called killer app versus 3 decent games?

I was playing PGR and DOA 3 at launch a hell of a lot more, and then Rallisport hit and it was over  love.gif

Ok enough of that experiment talk  laugh.gif

I dont see Sony having to find a game that beats Halo. I see sony as NEEDING games that beat Halos, Rallisports, DOAs, Fables, PGR's, PD zero?, Oblivion, Gears of war, and many many many many other high prof exclusives. I havent even mentioned the Jap exclusives from Q and Mistwalker.

what exclusives does sony have right now?

none??

MGS? that could possibly hit 360(2 years later)

GTA? Nope, itll hit 360 more than likely.

Gran Turismo?  Yes, and they can keep that.

Tekken? Hahaha keep that pile too.

We dont know about the new FF's coming out, thats all up in the air sorta.

And the other Big name games are all cross platform...RE 5, Huxley, Dark Sector, War Devil?(just for 360?) Splinter Cells, Recons, EA games, You name it.

why do you think the xbox has had such a huge surge. Exclusives, and good ones. Kotor's, Jade empire, even fable did decent. Preferential treatment for Splinter cells made Ubi Soft wake up and see that people were indeed jumping the sony ship just to get the better version of those titles. I know several people who did.

and where the fug is Brute Force 2?!?!?!?!

I must have it!!!!!!!!!!

wtf was the point of this thread again?!?!

 blink.gif

:passes out

where the fug is Rallisport fuggin 3?!?!?!

I will not be happy until I have that game in my hands!!!!!!

*sigh*

I just had a nervous breakdown  unsure.gif

EXACTLY!

Sony couldn't afford Half Life. Sony couldn't afford Doom3. Sony couldn't afford what makes PC gamers brag about how they have the good games. Now, Sony have UT2007. If UT2007 was only on the PS3, I would have to pull oney aside to get one just for it, but it's coming out on Xbox 360 as well! It's a done deal for me.

Gears of War, Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo( just Rareware in general), Quake 4, UT2007, The Outfit, Ghost Recon 3, Burnout 4, Prey, Elder Scrolls, Call of duty2, Huxley, and many many etceteras.
MS just have so much -good- developer support, something that Sony lacks.

Unfortunately, MS NEEDS that support or the ride wouldnt be so pleasant, but because of that, we, the gamer, win  smile.gif

If more hardcore sony zombies would put down their defenses for 5 minutes and play some xbox exclusives, theyd be singing a different tune afterwards.

If Splinter Cells went to PS3, I think Id buy one. I think Id have to. That is the ONLY game Id buy a sony console for, well that and Gears of War ofcourse. Oh and Rallisport 3, lol. Those to me are THE system sellers.

But thats not going to happen, if it does, 100 of you will be reminding me Im sure  tongue.gif

thats the difference between me and a true fanboy. I bought a ps1 back in the day just for Tomb Raider II. never thought I was capable of that until it happened. Played it, sold it for pc games later on. You can bet your ass Id gut the fuggin ps3 and turn it into a bonified grill afterwards  jester.gif

I forgot all about Prey, Quake 4, and I forgot all about Doom III and HL 2 for xbox.

Doom III did very well, as will HL 2 Im sure. I hope the rumor is true and we get HL 2 for 360. That would be monstrous and a huge plus for those that didnt get it on pc.

Carmack/iD throwing his weight behind the 360?

Done

Epic with Gears of War and UT2007?

Done

Team NInja/Itagaki?

Done

Capcom?

Done

Square?

Done

I could go on and on and on and on, but why bother. Point made  beerchug.gif

The reason I've never liked Sony's gaming department is, they've always developed for the mass market. You get some excellent exclusives, but they're surrounded by thousands of crap grames, lots of kiddy titles (people call the GCN a kiddy console, they're idiots.. the PS2 is flooded with kid crap, the GCN was just a pure games console. Mainstream gamers are idiots.) and the constant push to make their console loved by all.

I didn't like teh xbox for a long, long time but its hit its peak now.. excellent games, excellent hardware and a sense of elitism (generally due to the modding scene) that the ps2 just doesn't have. elitism is fun, and is what gaming is all about (to me at least.) if it was up to sony, there wouldn't be any "my consoles better than yours" chat, because everyone would have their consoles.. competition is what drives the market, and i like to root for the underdog.

In my opinion, sony via its hype of the ps2, and the people who bought into it were the cause of death for the dreamcast. Sure, sega wasn't being run very well... but it never was! I can never forgive sony for what they've done to gaming.. when a company like Nintendo is slammed for its style by idiots who never had any interest in gaming till sony turned up.

I'd prefer fewer developers, fewer games and a much higher "hit " ratio.

the kiddie crap u mention is relased on all 3 consoles generally, they tend to be poorly made, massly sold crap to appeal to gamers who know no better, theres plenty of these sort of games on the xbox, barbies horse adventure, shrek, ty, etc, the difference in the GCs case is theres alot of nintendo exclusive titles such as pikmin, mario golf/kart/party etc that may appear as childish games but theyre brilliant fun for all ages, including me, and im 28

out of all the current gen consoles, i play the cube more than any, it has the most fun multiplayer titles

to be honest, here in the uk at least.. i don't see as much of an xbox push in the stores in comparison to PS. Its definitely sold as the more "family" friendly console, its the brand name all the parents know etc...

I adored the cube, it was a work of art, insanely cute.. and yes the games you mentioned were pure gaming.. people seem to associate cute, colourful graphics with being childish... its just shallowness.

I'm gonna get another cube again i'm sure, we literally played Double Dash in my house for 6 months on a daily basis. for hours at a time. I've never seen 6+ people fight over joypads as much as that... the xbox is great, but for MP fun on a local level (ie not via live) the cube is the king fullstop. (imo!)

Honestly... I don't like the Halo series... As a matter of fact I have never owned a copy of Halo1... The only reason I even bought Halo 2 was because that's what most of my friends liked to play.

I bought my Xbox in holoday of 02, and I bought it for 2 reasons: DOA3 and JSRF...
Soon after I bought PGR and Splinter Cell.

IMO anyone who thinks that HALO is the only good Xbox game... or was even the only good EARLY Xbox game never bothered to try some of the other AMAZING titles the console has to offer.

Honestly: KOTOR, Fable, Elder Scrolls, Jade Empire, Blinx, Oddworld, SegaGT, Fuzion Frenzy, Midtown Madness, Tao Feng, Deathrow, Forza, Ninja Gaiden, Doom, Phantom Dust, Mech Assault, Panzier Dragoon, Riddick, RallySport, Unreal Championship, Deus-Ex, Gunvalkyrie, Blood Wake, Crimson Skies, Conker, PGR, DOA, JSFR etc. etc. etc. Are all execlent reasons to own an Xbox... and there are many more as well.

If Halo was the only reason people own an Xbox, why is everybody clammoring for the 360? Why do I walk into EB (in the farking NH WOODS no less!) and ask how many preorders they have and they reply "About 250, but our sisterstore in manchester has over 500". ...and Halo isn't anywhere to be found on the console!

There are 2 things that are selling the 360 to me: DOA4 and PGR3  pop.gif

909 why are you here? you tell us to get a live outside of the xbox and here you are showing how much of a life you have hanging out in a xbox forum where you obviously have no interest/favor to the console.

QUOTE
the reason the ratio of halo sales to consoles is because:

a. it was the only decent game on the console for a loooong time
b. there was so few xbox console sale untill the price drop/mod chip

OR maybe it had a good ratio because it appealed to the mass market and the hardcore gamers.  it was easy enough to understand and get into (especially on the easier diffaculties) and had enough depth and strategy for the veterans.

a.  ummmm DOA3, PGR, Rallysport, etc. all sold a million before anyone thought they would and they were all excellent titles.  dont push your opinion as fact

b.  if i can find the mag/article when i get home (at the office now) ill post of how much MS has eaten into sony's market within the first year or two.  and i dont believe that sales for ANY system is helped that much by modding, games and exclusives help push consoles.

I may favor a company or a system but im not so blind and ignorant to admit something about i console i dont favor.  its sad your 28 and still havent grown up to realize this.

its not that sony cant afford these games, its that the PS2 cant run these games.  sure they could cut stuff out like they did with other games (splinter cell) but how good would doom be without all the shodows, bump mapping, and animation it wouldnt be the same game.  the same goes with half life 2, many say that game shouldnt be running on a xbox let alone a ps2.

and its good that the same wont be happining with the next generation with games like UT2007.  unlike this generation where the ps2 couldnt keep up in the end with the xbox, i dont see the same happining between the 360 and the ps3.  even IF the ps3 does eclipse the 360 5 years from now by a substantial amount, the game in question may be too expensive to make to just have on one console.

the next gen wars could very well be the best battle since the genesis vs. SNES days so it will be exciting.   pop.gif

twisted is that a new sig?

Kage, dont bother with that waste of skin. We should get a life outside of xbox, yet hes here to annoy, and instead of throwing weight into the MS corner by admitting the 360 is getting games from developers noone thought possible, he mentions ps3 is getting favored. Your question as to why he's here gets the same answer weve gotten since we got online with the netlink in '96, and you know what it is  tongue.gif

No game on the ps2 comes close to having a good sales ratio for systems sold. And a lot of it is because some just dont buy games for it, they still use it as a dvd player. I'm not talking about a series, I'm talking a single Game. Halo 2 sales far eclipse Halo sales, even when you add in the pc version of Halo. And using the "GTA doesnt sell as good because there are so many other good games on the ps2" is the stupidest thing I have ever read.

And I didnt mean the First GTA. You take the best selling of the series, and the ratio blows. You can add up all the gta copies in the entire series and what is it? 25, 30 Million? thats still not 40% ratio.

Dont you think that if the installed base of xbox was say, 40 million when all the Halo 2 hype was swirling about, that "atleast" half of those would have bought it? Sure.

use that same #, 40 million, and put it against any ps2 hype title, and it doesnt break 10 or 12 million.

and dont look now, but Im humping box art. look away fugger look away.

:hump

haha I just read the wastes reply..wtf does "
hold on, im just gonna cream over a boxart of a pc title thats already coming out on the xbox360" have to do with anything? Hahahahaha

I love how people try to dig deep down and think they are making witty comments, its comical  laugh.gif

:hump

oops that slipped out
