i usually agree with you twisted but this time i dont think you see the bigger picture.  getting the casual and the hardcore is both needed.  3rd party companies look at the install base to determine which console gets which games and support.  i think its the end of february of each year that the companies re-analyze the install base and decide their fiscal year on their results.  i know that will play less of a role in the next generation as a lot of companies will go multi-platform just to get a profit out of the increased cost of development but im sure that the install base is still very much influencial (spelling?) to their major desicions.

Look, casual gamers generally don't play on live. Sicne they don't play on Live at all and don't download too much conent (maybe some Halo maps), they do not need a Hdd. If they want one, they get it ON TOP of their core package after realizing how useful it is for Xbox 360 games (cache).

yeah I forgot all about the ps2/eb/gamestop scandal. it makes me sick  grr.gif

not only are they casual gamers, they are also very fickle, and a lot of their purchases are due to peer pressure. go ahead, flame away, but its true.

I'll check out the car pics later  smile.gif

wow  blink.gif  i had to pinch myself when 909 posted without bashing on the 360 im might impressed.  and i agree with you, most consoles break because of those problems but not always.  just ask deftech, i went through 5 dreamcasts and 3 xboxs.

its easy to see how much casual gamers means when you think about how mainstream gaming became with the ps1.  hate to admit it but sony really exploded the gaming market to the masses and before then it was mainly centered on the hardcore gamer.  yes more quality games were released then but the gross income of the industry was nothing compared to what it is now.

both deftech and carlo (see got the nick right) are also right.  its not hard to believe that a lot of people were influenced into buying games like GTA because of what they from their friends/peers.  and what carlo has stated is probably exactly what MS is thinking when they chose this pricing plan.  this way it can be made easier to get more 360s into more homes and still not leave out the hardcore market which is what they truly are catering for.

I wasn't saying so much that MS shouldn't go after casual gamers as much I don't think they're healthy as a whole...

Though you all bring up very good points and I completely agree with Carlo's theory as to why MS priced the different consoles bundles they way they did.
