Resident Evil 5 Trailer...
« on: August 06, 2005, 10:18:00 AM »

If it were a zombie flick I'd be pissed.
I'm a huge zombie movie fan and I hate some of the newer zombie flicks with fast and even running zombies.
I'm old school, I'm a big George Romero and Lucio Fulci fan.
So slow moving zombies for me please!

Having said that, I can't speak for zombies in video games.
I'd rather see video game zombies mirror George Romero's slow moving zombies, but that's a matter of personal taste.
Fast moving or running zombies are ok in video games as long as it adds to the quality of the game play. A good example is the House of the Dead series. It had both slow and fast zombies, and that was ok for a light gun game.

The RE games have always had slow zombies to my knowledge.
But the games had some serious control issues. The control scheme just wasn't good enough, and some of the fast moving creatures just made them stick out even more. On RE4 I hear that the control scheme is no longer an issue. And that it holds up well even against some of the faster moving enemies.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how these new running zombies affect the overall gameplay of RE5.
However I am worried that the old RE team's coming back to develope the latest installment.
But then again, Shinji Mikami the lead developer of RE4's directing the team so maybe I'm just being too skeptical....

I don't really care as long as they make the game fun. Slow moving enemies to me kind of add tension sometimes and adds variety. RE games always have a variety of enemies anyways both slow and fast and with the new control schemes things are changing as seen in RE4.
