Linksboks Freezing?
« on: April 22, 2004, 11:28:00 AM »

Just installed linksboks on xbox and agree with everyone, it's awesome.  Every once in a while it freezes on me though.  i thought maybe my box was overheating, but i'm pretty sure that's not it.  i just turned it on this morning and tried it and it froze about 10 minutes into it on an xbox-scene forum page.

anyone else have this problem?? everything else on my box works ok so far except the news bar(? don't know why).

i have two nics with a crossover cable connecting the xbox and pc with dsl, running avalaunch.

xbox settings:
dhcp: disabled
ip: 192.168.0.2
gateway: 192.168.0.1 {my pcs ip)
subnet: 255.255.255.0 (same on pc)
dns1: 216.239.64.154
dns2: 216239.64.155 (these are my isp dns)
proxy is disabled

pc gateway is cleared.

Any ideas about the freezing in particular (is there a linksboks option to change?) or even getting the news bar going.

thanks guys

Mine freezes all the time also, but it freezes less when you dont touch the controller while loading, and you can tell when it is totaly locked (need to reboot)when the xbox gets slightly quieter and it mainly happens on pages with lots of jpegs.

i think i noticed a difference since i turned image dithering off (left letter dither on).  i don't think it freezes as often, only a couple times in the last week.  pretty good.  <

Ok, I know this thread's a year old but this matches my search so I'm gonna use it. Anyways, Linksboks freezes on me all the time, too. I use XBMC as my dashboard so I was wondering this: Can I adjust the settings in "Video Cache Memory" so that it won't freeze? I'm not sure but I thought maybe the freezing is caused by a lack of cache memory. Is this possible?

I think it frezes because it doesn't support java or flash, so if you go to a page that relies completely on either than it will crash. <

That's understandable, however, Linksboks crashes on me a ridiculously large part of the time. For example, if I simply want to visit xbox-scene the odds of me successfully loading the page (while not touching the controller or anything) are maybe 40%. Same thing for other pages; one of my favorites being www.gamespy.com/reviews.
