Wireless Bridge
« on: September 30, 2007, 08:59:00 PM »

Does anyone have any experience using a network bridge to connect the 360 to a wireless network as opposed to the official 360 adapter?  The bridge seems to be the cheaper option, but i havent found too much information on it except for using a pc/laptop as a bridge (which im not interested in).

Will it work? Also, any recommendations on a particular brand?

Mine works.

I have a Linksys wireless router, connected to a cable modem. My Xbox 360 (and former Xbox) is connected to the wireless router via a Netgear bridge. I wanted a Linksys bridge to keep it all the same type, but the cost is just a rip off for what they are. Ebay bridges seem to sell for nearly new prices (well that's how I found it). I got a re-conditioned one from Ebay for £25.

I have ports 88 UDP & 3074 UDP & TCP forwarded to my Xbox just as M$ says I should

I use a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT in client bridge mode.  That will connect to a wireless network and network up to 5 wired devices at a time because it will let you use the WAN port with the switch. You can also turn up the wireless power for better range smile.gif
this same method will work for
wrt54g v2 tried it
wrt54g v5 a bit harder but it works
buffalo whr-54gs easer than v5 but harder than v2
wrt54GL haven't tried it but I heard it works.

You can get any of these pretty cheap.  BBuy was running a sale a couple weeks ago on the buffalo for 30 bucks, and you can get a wrt54g on ebay for about 25-35 usually.
