Aol And 360 Are Enemies!

Can anybody help? im on AOL(UK)broadband and it will NOT talk to the 360.  it will wireless i have been informed , so l upgraded to wireless router. but l cannot get any ip address.and it wont let me put one in. although it says CONNECTED TO Wireless. AOL will not give out static addresses. l have even tried alternate screen names.
x box say use the ethernet cabel to connect to my wireless router ,so l got wired , no dice either"FAiled"  . my XP computer will not talk to the 360 by ethernet or even by crosswire!! MY son is suicidal!! plus it's getting expensive.
what am i doing wrong?

Sorry I can't really help you get Live working with AOL, but I can offer some advice.  Get ANY other service provider!!  Or you may want to call AOL tech support, though you will probably be routed to India and it is very hard to get an answer throught them.  My advice, ditch AOL.

This has nothing to do with AOL, its your setup, im on AOL, and it works fine, apart from i download so much that AOL now cap me, and its so slow from 6pm to 11:30pm that its useless, so i am looking for a decent isp.

Not that there are any in the shitty UK.

you need to go into "network connections" and then add another "shared" connection.  there is a box under advanced settings that you have to check that says something like "allow other pc to use this connection"
