Jasper Retail Nand Flash Dump - No Bad Blocks, But 4 Ecc Errors
« on: January 15, 2013, 01:29:00 PM »

Hi!

Recently I decided to try to run RGH 2.0 on my jasper console. Already have cpu key and older successful dump. So I connected my nand flash device and dumped nand 10 times. Got 10 exact matches, but during dump always got the same errors on 8 same blocks. When I opend this dump in nand healer I got message, that there's no bad blocks, but 4 ECC errors. How it's possible? If Nand dump contains wrong ECC, shouldn't this dump return RROD or any other error during console booting? Should I be worried with this or I can leave it as it is? If I leave it, will I have any problems, If I try to revert to this stock image?

Thanks in advance for all help in this topic.

Regards,
Petroz

EDIT : Added Screenshot from nandhealer and nandpro log

Um...wouldn't you just leave your car running with a bad check engine light? Right. you should fix it. The current image is different from when you first dump it. The Smc changed. You will always get different results. from your dump after the original.

Could you clarify what you have on mind? I know that this image is different than oryginal dump I've got the first time (at 13599 dashboard). Now I'm on 16197.

I know I should do something with it. But i had hope that M$ system update will check data integrity and repair this (or remap bad blocks). That's why I asked.

So... creating clean retail image with my cpu key, kv and smc_config will do the trick? Do I need to remap these blocks?

If no-one can help, then I think I'll try to generate clear retail image of 16197 dashboard in xebuild and remap these blocks. If that doesn't help then I'll re-flash with this stock image and try to update dashboard to 16202. Maybe $MS update will patch this errors. If someone can help with advice, please PM or add reply on this thread.

I think what he is really saying is that you should be using JRunner or Xebuild which have bad block remapping facilities .  I believe jRunner will auto remap bad blocks when it builds an image.  Try it and  check the log for bad blocks and remapping.

Re: bad blocks in general, it seems some apps will detect and fix your problem and some don't even though they tell you differently.  It's a bit trial and error specific to your console and specific issues, so try a few like I mention and fingers crossed.
