I have rectified the issue - this might not be isolated to a Bootcamp Mac issue.

Windows 8 is automatically setup to not allow unauthorised/signed drivers installed.

you need to log into the advanced startup options and reboot and sleet F7 in the menu screen to allow unsigned drivers to be installed
