I learned c++ and a little ASM from my dad when I was 13, but i forget a lot now (9 years ago) Think I might get into it again.  biggrin.gif

I do movie converting, avi <-> mpeg and whatnot on my computer, PII 400 with 382 Mb RAM and i get decent times, it's all how you have it set up.

All is legal cuz I just buy and sell. smile.gif

How's that legal?

Anyway. It's a great idea if someone wants to put the time and effort into it.
It might be nicer/easier to just submit the code to XBMC tho!

hmmm....would it be feasible for one to swap the dvdrom, for a dvd burner on the xbox, then have a coder make a driver / program for it, so that u can make copies of movies games etc right from the xbox?     im not really sure    stop me if im out of line here....

that's a pretty bad idea.  do you know how hard it is to integrate one driver, let alone 50 for all the major dvd burners out there?

What about the idea of just saving the ISO, or some sort of a cd image to the HDD? If that was made, would it work?

i think you're the 'tard' mate.. he said it would take 50 - 150 hours to CODE the program, not to convert dvd to divx.

As for converting a DVD to divx not sure I can see the point if you have a PC but if you dont sure it would be very nice if a little time consuming if at all possible...

before we get onto another subject, i want to know and saw a couple of others who want to know if it would be possible for the xbox to convert the dvd to an avi, mpeg, etc. without menus, just convert all the vobs into one single avi, mpeg, etc. file. And if this is not possible does anyone know of a simple way to do this on pc, or a site with downloads and tutorial.

Auto Gordian Knot is an excellent tool. It doesn't rip dvd's tp your harddrive, you should use dvd decrypter for that and then gordian knot. Here you'll find those programs and everything else you need to know about dvd to avi
