i got a brand new xbox a month ago and i was so glad i got a samsung, until i read a bunch of posts online about how a bunch of people had gone through 3+ xbox's that were all sammy's made in june that had been scratching they're disks horribly...i didn't believe it but then it happened to me too, i was mad/amazed that no one had heard about it. the scratches were pretty random-placed DEEP scratches that were curved and were all over, though i could hear no noise of scratching, i took it back and got another one and it has just started to do it again, all over the disks, and i know its from that because its done it on a game i just got 2 days ago. i'll be returning this one too, its been really getting on my nerves. has this happened to anyone by else thats gotten a new sammy by any chance?

You know at first I thought that was what was happening, and just assumed I had managed to make a big deep circular scratch on my halo disc.
So Yes I have noticed this, but I cant say for sure if it is constant because I play my games off the HDD.

I have a Wolfenstein CD that I borrowed from a freind that has deep rings all the way around the cd's they are actually deep grooves but the cd still works even on my Thompson drive.

Theres no telling if you will have any success with a new one, but at least it will be new. :lol:

I still think samsungs are the best though. Especially if you play most games off the hdd.

And besides if you're using original games, ms should send you new disks... Is it the new Sammy 605F? Or the old B version?

Oh, I've forgotten. Many Phillips drives from versions 1.4-1.5 scratch original games...
