[help] Jtag Box "could Not Detect A Flash Controller "
« on: August 09, 2011, 10:18:00 PM »

Hello,
my friend tried to make an update for new freeboot image. its succeeded but after restart something wrong, the console power on but nothing shown up on the screen (and X green lights does not lights on startup), only one green led on the center of power button.

I'm trying to inject the ori dump nand but it always error "could not detect a flash controller device".
i use the usb spi and it works great on other jtag box.

I read and try of shorting pins methods and still error.
Tried also fast-Switch-On method, same result.
Checked All connection wires and they are seems intact and good.

btw, its jasper 16mb.

anyone have this problem before and could solve it? is the nand is corrupted or dead already?

thanks

Check your wires with a multimeter set to OHMS,if you get good constant readings on ALL wire points then your soldering isn't to fault. It only takes for just one wire point to give a really low OHMS reading to know that your Jasper's SPI is fried but believe me,some boards are very, very picky and tempermentle at trying to read it's Nand.It wouldn't hurt to un-solder your USB-SPI wires and re-solder them, making sure that each and everyone goes right through the holes on the Jasper board points. At the moment i only use the LPT meathod as i'm waiting to get hold of a Nand-X,really hope you get it sorted :)

I will paste the answer I gave that other post:

"The major cause of undetectable flash controller is the lenght of the cable of LPT device or USB SPI flasher and bad soldering. By my experience, the best lenght is arround 20/22cm or less if possible. If solder is fine (tested with multimeter), the issue is the lenght of the cable.
I suffered for weeks till I decided to short up the cable by its half (it was +/- 40 cm) and like magic I got the flash controller detected by all versions of NandPro a/b/c/d/e!!!!"
