Dvd2xbox Acl Updates
« on: December 21, 2003, 08:24:00 AM »

I started this thread to host ACL entries for DVD2XBox. ACL entries allow you to backup games that need to be patched to run from the HD. Typically these games need to be FTP'd to the PC, patched, then FTP'd back. With the proper ACL, you can just use DVD2XBox to save the game and it will be automatically patched. Examples of games like this are ETM and Alter Echo.

Rules for posting:
Put the entry in a Code block.
Make sure you double \ if its in your ACL. Like this "\\"

So to get the ball rolling, here is my first one:
CODE
#Alter Echo

ACL Patch for Australian Release of Rugby League

Here's an ACL entry for Rugby League.  This works on the Australian release.  I understand the NZ release is called Stacey Jones Rugby League.  As I don't have a copy of that release, I can't verify that it will work.  It might have a different titleID that would need to be modified in the ACL entry.

So here's what you need to allow copying the Australian Release of Rugby League to your HDD using DVD2Xbox 0.5.2 or higher:

[EDIT]  I decided to incorporate the NTSC patch, as well as commands to delete the unnecessary video files.  This ACL entry should now be a pretty comprehensive patch for running Rugby League from your HDD.  Enjoy :)

CODE
# - Patch Australian Release of Rugby League to run from HDD and play on NTSC machines
# Please note that after applying this patch, you will not be able to view all of the
# videos in the game (contained in the folder 'movie0'). If you want to view these extra videos,
# you can use XBMP, or some file managers such as the UnleashX File Manager.

In case you're not sure what to do with this information, you need to add the above code to your dvd2xbox.acl file, which is located on your Xbox in the folder where you installed DVD2Xbox.  Use any text editor (eg. Notepad) to add the above code to the end of your ACL file, after the [default] entry, and any other entries you may already have.

OK, so here goes my crash course in brain surgery.

First off, I've been heavily working on an item over at this thread which details what files in 50+ games can be deleted with no harm done to the game itself.

So, recently (like the slow bastard I am), I find out that dvd2xbox has this acl command to remove files and folders. And I start thinking that what XBOX War3z said in that thread
QUOTE
this would be some great coding material, for backup tool
"remove those extra files" option

Alright, enough prefacing, onto my idiocy.

Here's something I've tried recently. Over at my post, you'll find this info for Unreal Championship.
QUOTE
Unreal Championship
Space Saved: 109 MB

Files Deleted:

/Sounds/TAUNTPACK_ITT.xwb
/System/***.det
/System/***.est
/System/***.frt
/System/***.itt
/dashupdate.xbe
/downloader.xbe
/update.xbe
Deleted .xbe's are due to backup/XBL NON-interactivity. All files containing "det", "est", "frt", or "itt" are alternate languanges (There's 300 of 'em in the "/System/" folder).

And, after 13 or 14 times trying out different things in my acl entry, and re-re-re-backing up the game, here's where I finally landed.
CODE
[49470024]
#Unreal Championship

And, here's what the above entry produced in the .log.

As we can see by the "emboldenated" part above, asterisk does not appear to work with the RM command.

I guess this is more a question if the asterisk will be later added to the RM command, cause adding all 300 files to the Unreal Championship item would be a pain in my ass. Also, because there are other games where if it was reasonable to use * as a shortcut, I did it.

Yep, asterix won't work in the RM command right now.
I just wanted to see what's posted here to determine the next features for the acl.
