Xbr3 To Freeboot 12611
« on: November 28, 2010, 11:01:00 AM »

Spent the latter part of yesterday and all morning trying to update this xenon nand. I read several guides and tuts and tried to piece together a slew of guis to do the trick

I don't have an original nand. Simple as that.

I've successfully upgraded all my other xenon's from freeboot 9199 to freeboot 12611 with no problems. I get Christmas lights when I use the same process with this XBR3 8955 xenon.

I don't understand the process for using Easy Freeboot GUI 12611 with donor nands. You select the "use donor files" box and click on "create image". It next asks you what motherboard you have so I select xenon. At that point it makes a "updflash.bin" file and says "All Done Freeboot Image Created". But after that another open dialog box pops up looking for a file named "Stock Nand.bin".

What nand image am I suppose to open at this step and what file am I suppose to flash? "updflash.bin" created at first or whatever its trying to create at the end?

Just to rule things out I flashed the "updflash.bin" file that was created during the first part of that EFB 12611 checking "user donor files".

Now the box boots to xellous no matter how I power on. The middle light stays flashing and the DVD won't eject.

Also I noticed the fans spin really fast.

Going back to the drawing board. Flashing XBR3 back again.

*Fixed*

I used bestpig freeboot toolbox maker 2.4 r3 to update my xbr3 dump to 9199.

Then I just used bestpig freeboot toolbox maker 2.6 and updated that 9199 image to 12611.

Flashed and booted just fine after that.

You can go from XBR straight to 12611, that's what I was able to do with my falcon jtag.  Here are the instructions if anybody cares:

0) I upgraded from XeLL to XeLLous first...

1) Download & Launch freeBOOT_ToolBox_Maker v2.6 (bestpig.fr)

2) Enter CPU Key, select Motherboard Version, click 'Generate freeBOOT'

3) Select your original NAND dump, then click open.

4) Rename the generated freeBOOT.bin to updflash.bin, uploaded to /Hdd1/Apps/Flash360v1.0/

5) Launch Flash360.xex, press A, then choose the option that doesn't keep current KV & CPU key

6) Follow on screen instructions to turn off Xbox 360 (do not use Guide button to turn off)

7) Unplug 360 for 30+ seconds, then plug back in & power on, you are now running 12611!

Didn't work for me. I tried that first. I had to go from xbr3 to freeboot 0.32 first.

Don't forget to run the ms systemupdate after that if you want avatars/gamertags and kinect to work.

I wonder if it didn't work for you because your xbox is a xenon, or maybe because you had to use your XBR nand instead vs original nand backup...

Yep, you're right run the system update if you want avatars, here's the link:

Tried this on a falcon... no good.

My situation is this:

Customer wanted me to fix their botched jtag attempt so they gave me -
1) falcon system
2) cd with 'original' nand (actually xbr3 nand)

I can create a running nand using xbr3 and encrypting a new kv for it (the kv in the 'original' xbr he game me isn't correct - cpu key won't decrypt the nand info.) however, any time I try to update to 12611 or 9199 I get x-mas lights and/or e52.  I've tried rebuilding/converting the xbr to an original and using that through jtag tool & bp toolbox (in steps from 8955-9199-12611 and also straight to 12611)

Am I missing something?  I found a program called 'xbr3 to freeboot' but kaspersky says it has a trojan and I can't even run it in a safe environment.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi, I need help!

I started to follow all steps but:
0) to 4) fine
5) when I select to "doesn´t keep KV & CPU key", I receive a warning: keyvault encrypted data check mismatch.

I´m 100% shure that the original nand is correct.

What is wrong? My old nand was in the old dash (2.0.6717).

Can someone help me?

Thanks!!
