Dvd2xbox 5.1 Bug
« on: December 16, 2003, 08:34:00 PM »

Dvd2Xbox is loaded I press the B button, and nothing happens.  Also once I press B Dvd2Xbox hangs, it does not respond to any further input.

-I've tried with and without Games in the drive
-I've tried inserting the game after Dvd2Xbox starts, and before, and during load time.
-I'm running latest, Executer bios, and latest Evox Dash.

Anyone else running into this problem as well?

I'm able to enter browse mode after a game is ripped, just fine.

Thanks,
Medogee

The curious is that I didn't change anything in this section of the source code and that it works for some people and not for some other. It works for me and if we don't find any similarities between your settings this behaviour is hardly to reproduce.
Did you repeat the steps after the cold reset ? Does it crash at the same point ?

Just to add my input, it freezes with me as well. I get the title screen, and then when the main menu comes up, it freezes and must be powered off.

I'm running latest evox and x2 bios, with 120Gig WD hard drive.

Which version ? Reproduceable ? Tried disabling network ? g: drive enabled ? evox tsr enabled ? thomson drive ?
Works for me with the same settings except that I use an older evox.
And it seemed to be not the same cos for some freezes immediate, for some after pressing A and for others after pressing B.
Is someone capable of programming in C/C++ ? It would be great if she could do debugging on other boxes.

-Samsung DVD drive
-Tried both Network connected and disconnected
-G-drive not enabled, I have a 120GB WD HDD
-This is reproducable

I may try debugging it, when I get some free time.

This would be great.  It's not bugfree of course as stated above almost the same settings including the samsung. Would you mind posting your dvd2xbox.xml ?

This is slightly off topic but I was trying to do Project Gothem racing 2 and I keeps getting files failed to copy. I think the had extentions like "file.pak_sunny" "file.pak_cloudy" but when I copied it with boxexplorer it worked fine

I'm running dvd2xbox on a.....

Stock HD
Samsung DVD Drive
X2 4979.06 Bios
Avalaunch 0.48.2

For me it freezes when...i hit "B" to goto the file explorer (which works fine) then i press back to go to the main menu and it freezes stone cold, must manually power off/on. It happens everytime if there is a game in the drive. I have tried many game thus far with no luck. I've tried disabling network, and of course since it's on a stock hd i has FDrive and GDrive disabled. Please help

By the way it also freezes when i select "A" to copy dvd to hd from main menu, right off the bat. Like i though it could be becuase there is not enough room on hard disk. but WiSo mentioned that it shouldn't freeze but rather give me the choice to copy...just some more food for thought

I'm running latest evox and x2 bios, with 120Gig WD hard drive.

I have the same problem as Rileq.  As soon as it boots up to the main menu it just freezes using dvd2xbox v05.2.

And I also noticed that if I keep an old version and boot up the old version and than go back to boot the v05.2 it boots up fine but on it's own it just freezes, maybe just coinsidence.

X4977 bios, 80gb HDD and EvoX 3921.

GreetZ

PS: Just incase someone says it's EvoX fault, I can say it isn't as I have tried the tHc Dash, UnleashX and Avalaunch and it still does the same thing.  Also I have tried everything on this post and still the same problem with the new version v0.51 downwards work fine.

the extensions shouldn't make any differents. Did you test to copy it also with the disc browser ?
Could you specify the whole filename ? Any special chars ?

Thanks to all for the lot of informations. I'm worried about that dvd2xbox crashes almost differently but I could work with it just fine (and you can assume that I test it with several DVDs,CD-Rs,CDDAs etc.).
There is no way around that I find some people which are interested in C/C++ and have the XDK to compile dvd2xbox and test it on their boxes. Anybody of you ?  smile.gif
A good starting candidate is the "DetectMedia" function which runs every 2 seconds. But I already optimized it.

Have u ppl with freezing problems tried deleting the ENTIRE dvd2xbox folder and copying across the ENTIRE new contents? (ie, starting from scratch, rather than keeping your xml or whatever?).

Once that works, then modify your xml. Just my 2 cents.
