The Future Of Bootloaders?
« on: October 02, 2010, 09:38:00 AM »

Hello all,

I've been reading for the past few months on XBReboot, Xell, Etc, But I've seemed to have missed the boat.
I have a launch console that is updated to 9199, and a brand-new never powered on Jasper with a 2010 manufacture date.

Anyway, what I'm wondering is Now that the "new" S console is out, is the development like Xell along with other hacks going to be stopped?

I know that a fair amount of the people that dedicated them selves to hacking the 360 have moved to the PS3 with its recent break through, that's only going to hurt the scene as well.

Moreover to the point, is there anything new and exciting for us that missed the j-tag/boot loader updates coming at one point?

Thanks!

I don't think there is anything on the Horizon, the exploit for Jtag currently is based on an extremely early exploit, there hasn't been a lot new here outside of improving the existing JTAG methods. There are still plenty of jtaggable consoles out there for sale, if you want to get into it, you could sell your consoles and buy an older one.

yeah, That's the conclusion that I've come to with all of my reading as well.

i have 4 other consoles that would be perfect, But they are all RROD 0110 or similar something that I've never found a working fix for or to the same point, if it is "repaired" it will not last long.

So long as Microsoft never makes another mistake in the code for the 360 hypervisor, we will never be able to have another hack. It isn't a matter of finding new ways to exploit this future vulnerability, as we already have two excellent vectors: the unsigned shaders in KK, and the JTAG method.

That's a pretty large IF, and i doubt they would make that same mistake again.

Though, Are there still people looking for an exploit on them? to hopefully FIND something like that again?
